Thanks Five in a future van.

I now need two drinks before I tackle those instructions.

If you see one advertised somewhere you'll know I failed.

I'll let you know. And thanks for your help.....and everyone else.

I definitely advise at least 2 drinks before you try. It is a PDF download, so maybe print it out so you'll have the satisfaction of setting fire to them afterwards lol.
Love the nickname, I might steal that.
Best of luck!!! :boxing-25:

:second:Thanks!!

Just for my peace of mind, can I ask:

Did you download the apps to android and /or iPad first?
Did you then attach the Edup (with usb stick..mine is 16 gig) to your pc or Mac?
Did you then access the silly little cd and install windows client?
Did you then see the connection from pc to other device?

Mine stops there....

I'm very pleased there is at least one person whose managed it.

:second: "2nd" ....... ????? I think from reading this thread, Im definitely :first:
Plugged the thing into a USB power supply, logged into it at 10.10.10.54, followed the units onboard set up and set the user and password .... plugged in a 1TB HD, used both the Android and IOS Apps to connect and the magic just happened.

Can watch two different movies on separate devices at the same time (is that a bit like rubbing your nose in it. I really didn't like that number 2 trophy at all. :p)

Thank you folks for letting me know I am not alone. I started work on "computers" more than 50 years ago when they were still mechanical. Burroughs Sensimatic (Google it). Finished up with 16 years at a High School as an admin officer maintaining the admin computer network. Been retired 9 years and am now so far out of touch it hurts. It's almost like another language now than I can no longer be bothered learning. As long as I can use the computer to access the forum I am happy. :cheer2:

I agree.

Worked at the cutting edge for far too long and mastered all the stuff needed with and via computers.

Now I just want the things to work, to do what I think they should do and to add to my life rather than force me to try to overcome some idiot's idea of what should be important.

And more often than not they don't work reliably, they don't do what I think they should do and they certainly don't add to my life!

I think I've just convinced myself to dump all my spare computer parts and to dispose of some of the extra laptops and such I've kept thinking I might need them someday.

All I need is an iPad!! Who cares about what it won't do as I like what it can do.

I think I've just grown up.

Ho, ha @Dobbie , exactly. Awhile back while cleaning out some stuff I built up an old system from bits I had, behold a fully working system with a monster 500mb HDD, Windows 3.1 with tiny monitor, fired it up and couldn't remember how to do things had to pull out the old books from TAFE, binned it in the end along with a couple of wheely bins of gear.............too busy in retirement to fool around with it now, gives me a headache.

Ok ... A brief update.

Read everything again, including the links kindly passed on by some of you,
Thanks.

Also found another utube video which obviously tried to address the confusion caused by that Chinese lady.

Discoveries!!

  • No need to even think of installing the silly little disk on computer unless you want to use existing Internet as a bridge while using the personal wifi for accessing the storage. I don't so out the window that goes. I think.
  • On the Chinese utube video the green thing we thought was a router or hard disk is actually a power pack. Lightbulb time for me.
  • I reinstalled the app on iPad and adjusted wifi settings to recognise Edup and it works. Success in one area.
  • I did the same with the android and can get my Samsung to change wifi settings but I can't get access to the portable storage as I can with the iPad.
I'm getting very stubborn but even if I can only use it with iPad I'm ahead as I can now keep all my ebooks, music, photos, documents on one USB stick and free up the iPad a bit so I can add more unnecessary items.

It would be perfect if I could do the same on the android but I need another drink before I have another go.

Don't give in .... it's small but deceptively tough little opponent. You can lick it
