Bed end covers look good @pomtony , are they in Melbourne?

Also really like your sullage hose pipe container. This is what I love about this forum. I've been looking at ways of fitting PCV pipe across my van but there wasn't much scope for that...I didn't even think of looking at fitting something along the 'length' of our van - Thanks for sharing

no worries mate glad to give you food for thought, the ends were made by all seasons vinyl in currumbin, I just checked out the Kakadu site and found this agent,
S J Annexe & Awning Installations - Mobile Service
Melbourne Vic
0430 379 962
not cheap at $990, but good quality
we got the bag awning, annex walls, porch, bed flies on our old getabout jupiter, and they were top notch (apart from the setup work, which is why we now have an expanda parked outside)

Thanks for looking that up, appreciate it.
Yeah the expanda is a far cry from my tent days...although I don't mind it every now and then with my boys

@pomtony

Did you have to change the gas struts on the lids to support the weight of the new bed ends, or have you just added an adjustable pole to take the weight - if at all?

Some great Mods on your van - some food for thought and a few ideas going to be pinched!

Cheers,

ROnEM.

ok installed a head unit and speakers

i studdied the location for a long time, working out how i was going to install head unit there.
i thought this was a neat location, at eye level so could be operated easily, and with a usb stick in was out of the way enough to prevent bending of the stick,(bent a few in the old getabout at shin level in the doorway!)
access from behind was via the top fridge vent, then unscrew the ply strip on top of fridge
after doing this i thought ok no deal i cant get in to do it, so left it for a couple weeks
was sat in van 1 arvo staring into space and it came to me, take the benchtop off and access from above.
after that it was all systems go, got head unit and 4 speakers for under 200, got some cable and there you go job done

thats the inside done, i wired the 4 speakers to front output in parallel (2 left 2 right)
still debating whether to cut 2 big holes the van side, or mount 2 speakers under the van
im tending towards 2 mounted under van, i dont really want to cut holes in the side

cheers

heres my first mod so far, put shelves in the wardrobe.
ply on each side cut to fit
metal shelf brackets, drilled
shelves with aluminium angle on edge, non slip mat glued on
shelves bolted to brackets
led strip glued to underside of shelves
pin switch fastened to top corner on hinge side
each shelf lit when door openView attachment 18454 View attachment 18455

These mods are awesome. Was it hard to get shelving in.? Slide in at angle and drop down I'm guessing

I see you have a Pioneer head unit. It looks the same as the one installed in my van last week. I am finding that when I turn it on in the morning on AM channel it has a pulsating whine thru the speakers. At that time nothing else is switched on. This goes for about 30 minutes and gradually fades away. Yet to try it on FM. Also finding that when the shower fan is turned on I get similar but fainter interference.

The good news is that when turning on the lights the radio volume stays constant Vs the previous Fusion unit. And as I type the interference has returned. Just realised my wife turned the little light in the exhaust fan on. Other lights no effect.

Since posting this note I turned the stereo illumination on the face panel down. The interference thru the speakers also declined

i havent noticed any interference so far, i ran a dedicated feed for the permanent 12v straight to battery and took the switched feed from the supply to the outside 12v socket. hope that made sense

led lights can also interfere with radios. I have noticed that because less pulse at a rate faster than we can see it creates its own frequency. The interference depends on the strength of radio signal swell as location of aerial to lights. i had a few problems with a few of our dozers, moved aerial and problem solved. With iPod connected no prob at all. just a downfall of leds
and brand of radio

Thanks for the replies. After my last post we put the radio on in the pm. At first no interference. Then back it came. At this point all lights off. As it was getting dark I switched on the 2 main cabin lights. The interference immediately stopped. Switch off and back it comes. With the previous Fusion unit interference came when lights on. Now its lights off.

Woke up this morning, switched radio on. No interference all lights off. After a while it started. Switch on main lights and it disappears. Now we have sunshine all lights off. No interference. I did talk to the dealer who I believe knows of the problem but is as perplexed as others about how to fix it. I'll just live with it for now.
