Interesting ROnEM, I hope it dries out in a hurry. Will be going up the borefield road then right onto Oodnadatta track late next week (hopefully).

We did the Oodnadatta track with our kids when they were around the same age. It's a fantastic experience, and despite being 10 years ago, they still talk about it today.

There are great camp sites at some of the bores along the track, especially Coward Springs. Maree, William Creek and Lake Eyre all wonderful things to see, and of course it's not far across to Coober Pedy.

We have done the track twice with kids and would highly recommend it :)

Our plan in Sept is leave from Marla, first night at William Creek (400km), second at Leigh Creek (320km), third at Renmark. Unfortunately, we are pushed for time by the time we hit the track, but is two days for the track itself reasonable? - i know, more is better. But are we just kidding ourselves?

We left Coober Pedy 8am stayed that night half way along the track at coward springs arrived about 1pm. Left there around 9am arrived at Farina 5pm day 2 without really pushing. We spent time looking around as well. So 2 days minimum, 3 would be easier IMO.

We have just driven from Curdimurka to Maree on the Oodnadatta track, not much of it I know, but if you do go as far as Leigh Creek to camp, try to push another 20 odd km down to Beltana Station http://www.beltanastation.com.au/. We recieved a tip from some others at Farina ruins to head there, it was one of the better decisions we made. There is not much info on camping, but worth the $20 per night/vehicle!! Large camp sites with pit tiolets, hot showers in tin shed with no roof.... ahh I could easily go back!
