Ah the joys of being away from (yes I said away from) the van for a few nights. A bit of extra room in a motel, a night at home and then back to the mobile shack.

So I being a meticulous yob, well maybe yob, the jury's still out on that. Anyways I digress, being a meticulous yob, I notice some red powder on the bench. And yes I'm sure it wasn’t white.

So I thinks to myself, did I have chilli or cayenne pepper or any other powdetry substances out when I cooked last. Nope I don't believe so. Next step open the cupboard above and there it was the evidence of a mexican mouse having moved in!

There was s¥$t everywhere as well as a hole in my mexican taco mix. Taco mix everywhere as well. So I think to myself .....bugger....I look further, my nuts had been chewed as well and the stock cubes too. So I'm obviously looking for a mexican mouse with a preference for either beef or chicken.

Now as some you know I work away and live in the van when I'm away. Never in my 8 years of doing so have I had mice, let alone one that prefers mexican food.

So my first though is where's the shotgun. Oh yeh right I don't own one. Time to start thinking how to track the buggers down and slaughter them mercilessly.

So in the process of tracking them down I realise that they shouldn't be able to get in the start with. After all they can't climb vertical steel, can they? Next thought, what about up the drain pipe? Again vertical smooth plastic. Shouldn't be able to. Maybe up the annex wall, not sure,I surrender on the mode of entry. Ah forget tracking them down.

The real reason for this post is to see if anyone has suggestions on how to make sure I get buggers out so I can slaughter them. I don't want a dead rotting mouse in the van!

Mouse Trap
and I have seen one climb up a drain pipe on the outside so the little buggers have worked out the suction paws thing
My thoughts, you will probably find that they came through the small hole where the expander bed ends are.
Try peanut butter on the trap as they love it.

Better still, see if they make a mean margarita and learn to speak Spanimouse

I reckon they'll get in anywhere and a mouse trap needs to be in multiples of hundreds to even dent the population at times.

We were on the Nullarbor last year and had to close up absolutely everything against the mice while free camping. We had towels, spare clothes, linen , anything around all ingress points ....it worked about 90percent but not completely. It made sleep difficult as every little noise sent us paranoid and into a swearing fit.

But it didn't work...sadly.

Gawd!!!

I'm glad I hadn't seen this before last year.

I'd never have gone to sleep, or used the loo.

I may never use it again.

Watched a mouse climb up the edge of a sheet of iron once, so a gal post should be easy for them.............standard trap with peanut butter always seems to work so to does the bucket rope hanging from side, with water in it and some yummy stuff floating in a lid, they climb up and fall in and drown..................................on the run across the lounge room, 22 with rat shot works well.

Ok well. I'm starting to feel like this mouse is a freak of nature. Peanut butter, nope, cheese, nope, bacon, nope and finally a bleedin sonic mouse rodent scaring thingy. NOPE.

So I've got a mouse that doesn't eat and is deaf........

I have the solution......................turn power off, disconnect battery, remove battery form smoke detector, turn off LPG detector......place gas bottle on floor, turn on tap, get out and close door...come back in 3 hrs...hold breath, turn off and remove gas bottle, leave door open......remove dead mice at a later date.......
