Hi everyone,
We picked up our 2012 17.56-2 on Tuesday! Super excited. It's our first caravan. It's currently getting new tyres and ESC fitted.
I've been checking out this forum for a while now and have found it very informative and it reassured me we were making a good decision to get a caravan!
We are myself, hubby and 2 kids (4 and 1).
We're in Darwin and to run it in we're going "down the guts"

Were wise move getting the ESC fitted, particularly with some of the road trains you'll encounter coming 'down the guts'

You and the family will have years of fun, and we will have fun encouraging you to do those all 'essential' mods !!

Congrats. You'll love it and the ESC is a great addition.

Haven't heard the "down the guts" for ages.....a nauseating term that brings many variations to mind.

....I'll leave it at that.

Do you get to do much camping around Darwin in the wet season? Or it too humid and just plain hot and wet?

Like lots of places, you just have to pick your time and place.

Welcome to the friendly forum @CarlyC, good to have a "top ender" aboard. Just keep your hand on your wallet as @Bellbirdweb has stated, you will be "encouraged" to spend up on mods, most of which will be "essential". Keep us posted on your trip down the guts and remember, we love pictures.

not much I can add to the abundance of offers to help spend you hard earned, but enjoy the forum

never be afraid to ask a question - on anything - nothing is silly or stupid (only if you dont ask it..............)
the combined brains trust on here is incredible, with heaps of people with a great passion for their Vans and camping
with a myriad amount of ideas and fixes

:rofl:Thanks for the welcome. I told my hubby he needs to sign up but now I'm worried about all the mods he'll see (and want).
I've heard of up the guts plenty of times but no so the southern bound option.

Hey Dobbie, we don't camp in the wet, it's just too bloody hot!! That's part of the reason for the caravan, to have the aircon so that we can get out any time of year eace:

Thought it would be like a sauna without aircon but you make up for it in winter.

Glad to know you've got some options with the van.
