I know this topic gets done over now and then but here goes, again.

About to replace the tyres on the BT50 in readiness of next year’s big adventure and really can’t decide on what to use.

The choice is now down to 2;
Toyo Open Country A/T II LT265/65R17 120R
&
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 265/65R17 120/117R

Price for both is pretty good with only about $100 between the two, that’s $1200 for 5 fitted and aligned.
I want the extra weight rating primarily because when travelling the rear axle is pretty much right on the 1850kg limit.

Most travel will be on sealed roads or formed gravel (think Birdsville, Oodnadatta etc) with only occasional trips off the beaten track and even then, at low speed and pressures etc. I’ve always been slightly over cautious about vehicle care.

So, any thoughts or comments??
Always open to suggestions.

TIA Greg.

Thanks Crusty, yep 30k kms sucks I agree. Especially on the van seeing as how there's no drive through them.

Running the Geolanders GO15's on my Jeep and on other vehicles find them very good but towing I would go for LT tyres whatever the brand, give you a wider range of pressure than a P tyre and have a bit more tread depth ................ sadly the Yokies don't come in LT for the 18's on the Jeep be interesting to see how long they last as they do a lot of towing up around 30K now.............. do a great job under Big Mal though.

Yokies are on a pay for 3 get 4 deal at the moment.

Thanks guys.
Both tyres are a pretty good price atm;
5x Toyos $1150 & 5 x Yokos $1210, both include an alignment.

For me this really has turned into paralysis by analysis.

Appreciate the thoughts.
Greg.

Dual axle trailer tyres do get a hammering thru corners. For what its worth we have just been away with friends, he has General Grabbers on his 21ft 3.5t van and at 30k km the tyres looked run in. They were 6 year permanant nomads, and he favoured the Grabbers over KOs and KO2s
