Hey Rod

Why did he say the ball weight was too much, was it because it was more than your tow vehicles?

Mine is 240kg empty and I have no issues!

cheers
No, he stated that as a jayco service agent that I was only allowed 178 kg ball weight, no discussion at all re the tug but I did point out that my vehicle was a 4.2 l diesel turbo .I realize what you are saying and I know the ignorance is no defence, But two other jayco service agent have told different ball weights. The ball mass on my comp plate states 254kg so you see why I am confused, but I am still checking the load.and looking at lighter bikes. Cheers for your response, rod

Interesting @Burnsy, i'll do same with rear tank and too give feedback early Oct. Pace.

Well, I got the cover off the van yesterday to prepare for the next trip, though I had @Burnsy in my mind re ball (tow hitch) weights. Couldnt wait for Oct, so i ripped into it allready.

So stealth mission phase 1 as follows:
Gee hun (Mrs Pace) the Target glossy came yesterday didn't you want a new dress for The Cup. Reply - but its not pay day, Response - just put it on the visa it'll pay back automatically as the pay comes in, Reply - Ok, bye (not even a second thought) see you for lunch

Now, we pretty much keep the van loaded i.e.: full kitchen, appliances, laundry gear, front boot loaded, gas bottles on, full linen/ sleeping bags virtually van is kept to hook up and go just load clothes, fridge, medical requirements and upper cupboards with food (well that's the usual plan). Got Mrs Pace's scales from the ensuite (the ones that lie apparently, though work for me) and done the ball weight test.

First I weighed myself, all good, then I set up the scenario for doing the van. With all the pieces in place I weighed the ball weight, 181kg with above items in van. Smooth sailing so far, then got the hose out and filled both water tanks re weighed, same result. Great.
Drained the front tank, re weighed 175kg, sweet cooking with gas now. Emptied the rear tank, got original result.
Took scales away from van, re weighed myself, same result - so confirmed scales are good.
Van spec tag details 169kg as weighed from factory, so given all the things in the van, pretty happy with the ball weight.

Stealth mission cont…..
Put the scales away, cleaned the shower, toilet, bench top, refilled the toilet roll holder, straightened up all the towels, cleaned out the medicine chest and finished off the job by mopping the floor of ensuite (while I was at it, I done the kids bathroom too, since I had all the stuff out). Mrs Pace came home with subway for us both and no dress!!!

Mrs Pace realised the cleanliness of both ensuite and kids bathroom and said ''What did you do while I was shopping this morning, what broken, where did you spill something, did you get a speeding fine that I don’t know about yet, have you found my chocolate stash………..''
No hun, just love you and thought I'd get in and do some of house work in peace.

Pace.
