G'day all

We have just ordered a 17.56.1 and added quite a few extras. Bought it "on spec" as it is such a new layout and finally got to see one at the Caulfied caravan and camping show. It certainly looks as good as what we had thought. Stacks of room and storage space without the shower/toilet. Now we just have to wait for it to be built/delivered!!

Big thanks to Kelvin from Prestige Jayco in Bendigo (now there's a plug) for all his help and advice.

Hey there expanda.

Hoping for July delivery at the latest but apparently slots at the factory are filling up fast. A warning there for anyone else ordering soon, yours probably won't be getting built until the next run.

We didin't get the shower for several reasons.

1. Not much room for a "proper" shower. Being able to raise both elbows at the same time. :)
2. Not keen on having a toilet so close to a cooking area.
3. Big fan of ensuite sites at parks (not that much more expensive)
4. Have port-a-loo and toliet tent for bush camping.

We still have the hot water and external shower, so in our opinion a pretty good compromise. :)

We also purchased the 17.56-1 at the Caulfield Caravan Show (thanks to David from Prestige Jayco - Geelong....there's my plug, LOL)

We're looking at a late July handover as well. Seems like a VERY popular van.

We preferred the extra kitchen room to having a shower/toilet, as like GLX-R, we're likely to stay where there are ensuite sites most of the time and although the space difference is minimal, I found the -1 van seemed a touch more roomier than the -2 van (particularly in the kitchen area).

We also decided to add a few options as well:
- roof-mounted aircon (then moved microwave above sink, where wall aircon was)
- upgraded to 150Lt fridge
- added oven underneath stovetop/griller
- added the add-a-room annex
- innerspring mattress for the queen bed
- wind up Wynguard TV antenna

We can't wait to pick it up so we can start using it. We were originally looking at camper trailers but weren't too keen on all the setup that is required (especially when you start adding the extra rooms on) and they're not really "lockable/secure" to leave your valuables in when you go out for the day, when on holidays.
The Expanda is a much more expensive option but we think we will be much happier in it (along with the 3 kids...5 y.o twins and a 9mth old).

Great site BTW!

I look forward to reading about everyone's vans and adventures...
Cheers,
Dave

It seems to be a popular choice to not have the shower/toilet in the 17.56 layout.
We ordered our one at the Melbourne show last year as it was a brand new model for 2010, they only had the one floorplan.
We requested a deletion of the shower/toilet and in its place we had a double robe built in. Jayco were happy enough to oblige for us.
The deletion of the shower/toilet also deleted the HWS and the 2nd water tank, so we optioned them back in and also added the external shower.

This year we see that this floorplan is now an option, well done to Jayco
