G'day
Looks Great, Just wondering Is your Triton a 3.2 or 2.5
We have the same size van and I'm looking for a newer tow rig and the kids like the seats in the back of the Triton
the best of all the dual cabs so far but I was unsure how It would tow it

Cheers Cris

Looking good Shayne. In the 20 odd years we have had caravans, I've always run the water tanks full, not only for stability but also for tose times you get somewhere and there isn't any mains taps, or if you decide to stop on the side of the road for a camp, etc. have emptied them quite a few times when we thought we wouldn't need them.
Yeah mate I think your right, it would be handy to pull up and have fresh water. 20 years of experience sure comes in handy when helping us novice caravaners out. Thanks Mearsy

hi Asuuiscris, the Triton is the 2012 GLX 2.5l. I agree with the room in the back for the kids and this is the main reason we ended up with the Triton. I don't have any experience towing full size caravans but travelling from Coffs Harbour to the Hunter valley I thought it pulled it very well. No problems down the highway at all had the cruise set to 100 and it did it fine. It struggled up a few big hills but I reckon this is probably just part of towing vans. All and all I was happy with the triton.

Hi Mearsy,
I've just picked up the same van and am as happy as a pig in s@*t.
Unlike Tim and Trish, I went with the rear dinette. I like the idea of the lids having their own area to sit and draw /read/ipad etc. you can still convert to a lower bunk, but it means I don't get the storage a fixed lower bunk would offer. One thing that was interesting at handover ( something I can remember;)) is that you can fold the top bunk back, and use its mattress to make the lower bunk into a lounge. I also added two reading lamps under the top bunk to better illuminate the small dinette area.
Also, as per TTs point, I have found storage is a little tight, including the small front tunnel boot. The extended drawbar will allow a toolbox to be mounted to fit BBQ, hoses, tools, flooring, shade walls etc. this will be one of my first mods.
The other extras I added were roof mount solar, a drop down picnic table, and an external TV point, an external shower, and a light above the external shower.
We have not long taken delivery of a new 17.56.1. Love the idea about converting the lower bunk into a lounge area. Hadn't thought of that one :) Really wish though that the front dining area converted into a club lounge. Now that would've been great!

Looks great Shayne. Making me jealous. Ours should be off the line in the next day or so. Should turn up at the end of the month to Watsons Port Macquarie. Hope our gas and water is set to go, because we will use it that night and weekend we get it.
Sounds good mate, like I said I'm really happy with it, no probs and it looks great. I bet you can't wait to get it out as well. I'm not sure if port Macquarie do it too but watsons at coffs gave us one free night in a caravan park. We had a huge list of parks to choose from, hope you get the same that would be handy. Good luck with it mate and have fun.

Thank burnsy we are over the moon with it. Can't wait to get it out during summer and hit the coastal towns. Being from Newcastle you prolly know some good spots by the water around Nelson bay, my all lakes, central coast ect. What's your fav places?

Hi mate, there's a few nice local spots, some would say a bit too close.....Swansea caravan park for instance is only 30min from home in bad traffic, waterfront there is very nice! Belmont pines is even closer and almost as nice.
Norah Head at the Central Coast.....kids will love that one.
Blue Lagoon also on the Central Coast.....heated pool and hot spas.
Nelson Bay area we like Halifax Holiday Park at Shoal Bay.
One of our all time favourites is Manning Point on the Mid North Coast.....Weeroona Holiday Park....great beach to drive on!
There you go mate, there's a few to think about.....enjoy mate! :)
