hey all,

Our New 2017 VX Landcruiser arrives in 2 weeks.
Auxiliary battery is first on the list for mods, but what to do next?

Will be defiantly changing the wheels and tyres! Any ideas if I'm best to sell the originals individually or as a set?

All opinions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hey Dean, sell them as a set if you can. If you are changing size I recommend swapping 5 so your spare is the same..

I would also look at a bullbar and possibly suspension, depending on what you are going to do with it and where you are going to go. Depending on the towball weight of your Panda, you may want to look at airbag suspension in the back. They are nice and softly sprung from factory.

You will love it though.

Here is what I did to my 200 GXL when I first got it.
Wetseat seat covers
Ran a huge cable to the rear of the car inside the chassis rail that goes to the anderson plug and rear power in the jack compartment.
Fitted a Tow Pro elite
Put two USB outlets in the rear of the center console for the kids ipads
Put a USB in the front of the center console for charging my phone.
Purchased a tray for the center console http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Cent...r-2008-2016-/291952367228?hash=item43f9b7967c

Next mod is Airbags then
Bullbar (probably the Ironman one)
and then suspension

Thanks Hubble,

Was thinking airbags in the back and lift in the front to level it up, hate the way they nose down.
It's an every day work vehicle, that will tow panda every other weekend.

Snorkel is a must, but not sold on a bullbar yet.

Nice, @NoWorries.
Have towpro, towbar, tint, roof racks being fitted from Toyota.
That tray is pretty handy.
Will defiantly be running the extra big cabling from main and auxiliary battery to Anderson and 12-pin plug

Our cruiser got fitted with the tow pro, pioneer rack, lift kit with suspension, bull bar, snorkel, cooper st max tyres, rear tyre carrier, uhf radio, third battery, polyairbags, tinting in the front windows Anderson plug and umpteen USB and 12v outlets as they certainly don't give you enough when you've got kids. I'm sure there's more, but I forget now. plus it has a side awning and the usual floor mats and seat covers.

Secondhand cruiser rims have lost their $hine. Get what you can for them but the best value you will get on the tyres is to cut a deal with a tyre shop and trade em while new. I got about $150-180 a tyre iirc . When I sold the rims I couldn't get anybody intrerested in the set. Sold them a three lots.

If your going to tow and load a cruiser up and care about being legal you need to get a gvm upgrade. Which will give you suspension and lift as well. You get about 550kg of payload with a std cruiser. Deduct your passengers, luggage, fridge and van ball weight from that.

Also @Dean81 iam not sure the MY16 on cruisers can go back to 17" rims, you need to stick with 18"s for the brakes I think?

I'd definitely go a bullbar if your doing any out west driving. My first roo front on at 110 was enough for me to thank the bullbar for letting me safely continue my holiday.

We got the ARB GVM upgrade and the rear is still a bit soft when the van in on and the back of the car has a full esky and the other half full of firewood. I should have got the airbags at the same time. I would research Lovell's suspension as well, they have another 100kg or so on top of the ARB upgrade and have had good reviews...

I'm cheap, so I'm wearing out the original tyres before I upgrade to BFG's since there's no serious offroad stuff going on with us for another year or so...

Spotlights.....try it without first....I don't have them and don't really think they're necessary unless you do a lot of night driving...The new lights are just so good...especially in comparison to the Ranger.

.......You'll never go back....

Make sure you check out LCOOL forum for more specific information.

So, car arrives Friday now. Exciting times.
But don't get to take it home until the following Tuesday.
Extras getting fitted after purchase to keep the luxury car tax down.

Has anyone fitted the ARB summit bar?

Summit bar here...Impact resistance great, apart from the plastic bits that broke when I head-on'd a roo.... $60 for replacements which isn't much considering the front end would have been totalled.

Have had several people comment on how the bar suits the car. Mine is colour coded.

I had to stick some black matt vinyl to the driver side at the back of the bar because of the reflection from the headlights back into the drivers eyes...

Mines white so this may not effect you.....What colour have you gone for???

Heard somewhere the Crystal Pearl (VX) is actually cooler inside as a colour than the standard white (GXL) that mine is.

The only photo I have is after the roo.

The plastic grill and lower part of the buffer needs replacing. When I got mine they colour coded the fog light surround, and I don't think ARB offers that any more, probably because of the paint peel as in the picture....

Not a drama but another $30 in paint, and a few hours to remove, prep, and paint; when I get around to it.

The above pic is from the LCOOL forum. Foglights not colour coded. I reckon it doesn't look as good but everything is personal choice.

Haven't gone for the scrub-rails and changing the side-steps myself because it adds a lot of width and weight to the car, and my main reason for a bulbar is to make sure the front-end isn't damaged to an extent that I can't keep driving.

You are so going to love the upgrade to the Landcruiser.....................
