Im thinking of getting a triton glx r deisel after reading forums its a 50 50

I think they are ok not had one personally but the general feel I get from is it people expect a mercedez but get a triton.

Obviously the price point of the trition there is some significant difference in overall fit + finish but that's what you expect for the price point.

Not to say its not alot of money for them but for me personally I was looking for just a towing vehicle and willing to forgo the luxuries and maybe other supposed benefits.

But at least my wallet was about 15k lighter than other brands.

In terms of technical difficulties all of them have risks associated so best bet is to buy with what you can afford as nothing is a 100% guarentee.

What about a Colorado, they are nearly giving them away at the moment. $5k cash back even on the Thunder pack.

I not sure about that. I was completely happy with the interior and the fitout, expecially given that in FEB 2010 when I purchased mine, the GLXR model was absolutely class leading. I knew I bought a Triton and that is what I got - It had nothing more and nothing less than I expected in terms of kit, ride and handling.

My gripe was the fact that it let me down so many times. To me it really didn't matter how much cheaper it was than the alternatives, I felt it was a great vehicle for the price, and yes the saving allowed me to accessorise it well. However there came a point where the frustration of owning it outweighed the initial saving. Honestly, if the thing went two weeks without some sort of mechanical fault, I thought all my christmas' had come at once! It just seems there are more and more of these going back with mechanical issues. Each and every time I went to my local dealer, there was a procession of Tritons all with undefined issues. Again, if it was more reliable I would honestly still own it as I took a fair hit to get rid of it! I still believe that out of the box it is slightly underpowered for towing over 2T, but that can be tweaked with an exhaust.

IMHO there are many better options on the market now and there are also some great deals going around. Again, I may have had a genuine lemon but I would caution anyone looking at one to drive plenty of alternatives.

I'm just about to tick over 20000k in mine and hasn't missed a beat yet(touch wood) maybe too early yet. What sold me was the 10 yr warranty on the drivetrain and I felt it drove as well as the hilux. I do like the Ranger but was a bit pricey for me, not a fan of the look of the BT50 but they are growing on me.

We've just picked up at 2011 MN Triton Auto and so far it's been good. Just did a 3000 km trip towing the Expanda and it didn't miss a beat. Averaged 15 l/100 km sitting on 100. There's heaps of bounce in the rear so we ended up getting a WDH part way through which smoothed things out. Plenty comfortable, kids were happy, tonnes of room in the tub. I love ours. That said we haven't had it long enough to really comment on reliability touch wood. The GLX has the 4 speed auto so I believe the engine keeps the 400nm rating.
