How did you check if the breakaway battery was not charging @MolongMick ?

@Brad, The breakaway alarm in the car kept beeping at me every time I put the foot on the brake. With the car hooked up the unit should show a charge being put into the battery, an orange light on the unit will be on showing it is in charge, mine wasn't. There is a wiring issue on the tug, will sort that out today.

Hope they fixed it Mick, I'll have to check mine now. I always thought the ctec charged the breakaway battery on mains anyway?

Interesting.... Without the warning light how do you check the battery?

In NSW. it is law to have a monitor in your car to warn you if the battery is flat. Not sure about Victoria. In my opinion, for $100 it is worth it.

Not sure how to check the battery on the unit itself though.

There was no power going to the Ctec unit from the tug, I have fixed that by piggybacking off the fridge supply in the cars 12 pin plug connection. Seems to be doing the job.

Good work Mick. I hope that doesnt affect your fridge's performance too much while travelling. I guess it's not too hot at the moment.

@relgate, yeah I was worried, but checked the voltage and everything was fine, no drop in voltage from before to after, the fridge line was quite a heavy line so I really dont think I'll have any dramas.

the breakaway unit in ours has a check button on the unit itself under the seat. You press the button and if it lights green the battery is charged
