We have now had a LC200 GX for 3 years a 2016 model with DPF and no problems so far, just got to 75,000km with about +50,000km of that towing our 2.5tonne off road van in some remote places on rough roads and tracks. Beside the really good comfortable ride and easy towing one thing we really like is the Toyota dealer network. We just had our last service and front brake pads (after 70,000Km) done in Alice Springs and were really pleased with the dealer, not cheap, but it is a Toyota.
We had an interesting experience when we first got the LC200 a fuel filter light started to flash so quickly looked up the manual and then googled Toyota dealers, we were 20 minutes from the dealer in Jamestown SA and rang them and they said if it is flashing safe to drive to them so we did and on the spot they changed the fuel filter and $95 later we were on our way with new fuel filter and problem solved. We were very impressed.
We had two Pajeros for many years and were excited when we saw a Mitsubishi dealer in a country town, now we have a Toyota dealers seem to be everywhere even in remote towns (thanks to mining companies and farmers?). I think the DPF problems are mainly with the 2.8l engine the DPF in the LC200 so far it does not seem to be a problem and we do not even notice its operation.
Have a look at our thread on this on this forum.

Good luck with your new tow whatever you buy.

PS Did own a Landrover Defender 110 for a couple of years, was not impressed with Landrover Australia warranty support, or for that matter the number of annoying mechanical issues it had, hopefully Landrover has got better in the last 20years?
