Hi jvp use your roof vent on dirt road trips , just make sure that your van is sealed .ie bed ends ,door , bottom of fridge also at the rear of the van theres a fibreglass curved panel which folds under that isnt sealed from factory and dust ends up in the back of the van , tube of cilicone fixes everything .
Fix these things and your pressure vent should work propperly

Exactly what we did on our recent trip to the cape. Our 16.49-3 made it all the way to the tip, and once the fibreglass panel was sealed at the back, the scupper vent on the roof worked a treat and we remained dust free.

If you have a split system, then yes, any thing low on the body needs to be sealed up.
