Hi all. Yes havn`t been here in awhile. I got my MU-X in May. It tows my 1700kg Paramount Duet with ease. Alot talking about other makes Prado, way over priced for what you get. MU-X does it all. It is super economical, just got back from Sydney not towing though. Did 520 kms each way and it used 34l of Diesel each way (under 7l per 100kms). I get about 550kms per 63l of diesel while towing my Duet. It pulls with ease, not as comfortable as my Captiva was, but a joy to drive. For the price it beats anything around. 63l Diesel tank is about the only thing that lets it down. But Isuzu's motor is rated at 500,000 kms without touching it, that includes timing chain. It is down on specs compared to Colorado, but I wouldn`t touch another Holden and I doubt the 2.8l Duramax motor (6 speed) will go the distance against a 3.0l (5 Speed) Isuzu. Just my thoughts, but would I recommend a Isuzu MU-X ? YOU BET !!!.

Hi @Smudge
Thanks for jumping back on and answering our questions.
Another one for you, is your auto or manual?
Anything you have found that you don't like about it?

Thanks

BJ

I don't know that much about the D-Max or MU-X but what I do know is every time you travel through road works there will be the same Isuzu engine in something all be it 24V, that engine is absolutely bullet proof

A lot of problems with rear main's and throwing con rods in the latest D-max.

Holden not perfect that's for sure, but the 2.8 Duramax that is in numerous 4x4's and is made by Jeep and perfected buy GM is strong and reliable motor that will and has gone the distances.
Over here in WA most mining company's have been purchasing the Colarado over the Isuzu due to the price and the reliability of the drive train.
Talk to the Mechanics that work on the Mine site's and I am sure they will tell you all about the Latest Isuzu.
Not saying that there a bad 4x4 but just expect to pay more for repairs.

:behindsofa:Sorry but the rear mains are a problem though the whole range.
I believe also the updates were done for the MU-X so you should be safe on the con rod front.

Just ordered a MU-X. 8 week wait, but am sure it will tow the van well. After having a Holden Captiva which did not do the job. Isuzu has a great name. And to get top of the line LS-T with Towbar and a few other extras for $49,990 drive away, its a bargain. Looking fwd to towing van when it arrives will keep you posted on how it goes.
That's a pretty good drive away price Smudge. I am very interested in buying one soon. Had a test drive and all. Love the car. Am after the LS-T model. Can you tell me which dealer you went to in NSW please? The best price I got so far is 2000 more then your price.

North East Isuzu in Adelaide offered me a top model LS-T for $48500 drive away

We've had our MUX now for about a month but sadly our 21.63 we will be waiting for until March 2015. No wait for a MUX though. Got ours through Isuzu Rockingham WA and had the car within days. As a female, it is the perfect car for my husband. He is a kayaker and tends to chuck paddles, wet stuff in his car so the MUX suits him perfectly. Having said that we got the T model so we have the reversing camera, DVD screen, 7 seats, leather seats etc. We towed our pop up down south and she cruised along like there was nothing behind and it was a comfortable days driving for both driver and passenger. I must say getting a brand new car, all the warranty's for under $50,000 was certainly the clincher and every review we read or watched said they're not fancy, but will certainly do the job of pulling a big load. Couldn't justify another $30,000 to $40,000 grand just for a bit flasher interior and that price tag didn't necessarily mean a new model.

Will be extremely interested in your thoughts on the car longer term and how it goes towing. Especially with a van as large as that. If you can keep us posted on fuel economy (towing and not towing) it would be great.

Thanks.

No problems. We have plenty of time to get none towing readings between now and the new van arriving but very happy up to
now.

Looks like whatever way we looked at it the 21.64 is just going to be to heavy for the MUX. We are really happy with the car so our compromise is that we are going to contact the dealer to drop the size down to a much more manageable 17.56 for non stress towing. Will keep you posted.
