Hi all

Found site after looking for info on new van.

From the Hunter, spend lots of weekends in the van at Port Stephens (Lemon Tree Passage, Halifax-Shoal Bay, Soldiers Point Big 4 and Bays Holiday Park Anna Bay).
Usually spend Easter or October Holidays somewhere different each time, but we spend our Christmases at Weeroona Caravan Park At Manning Point, nothing there but very relaxing and love it.

Currently have 16.49.2 Expanda, and found this site looking for info as I have decided to upgrade ready for our Xmas holidays, in no rush and want to get it right.

After numerous 4wds as tow vehicles I now tow with and AWD 5.7ltr v8 Holden Adventra. Awesome car to tow with and no lack of power.

cheers

You mean the pond where i nearly fell off my bike when that dirty big Goanna came launching out of the bush!:(

We are up in front of the pool on the river side, be there xmas day and have a big lunch/beer fest boxing day.

Hopefully have a new van by then, really don't know whether to stay expanda or go Disco or even buy a near new one already optioned up!

Thanks for the welcome as well guys!

It's out of a 16.49.3 expanda or the discovery, no upsize really just an adjustment and minor upgrade as we need a van with toilet/shower that sleeps four.

We need the shower/toilet and the Mrs loves the Discovery, I like both but lean toward the expanda more being a little more compact but still big when opened. And the shower seems more accessible in the expanda than the Disco. That's only my opinion though.

I'm prepared to buy new but if either one pops up with all the options at the right price I will do the deal.

Welcome Hamish. Definitely want the shower/toilet model. Nice part of the world around Port Stephens, we used to stay in an apartment owned by North Sydney Leagues before our caravan days. 8-)

Hi Hamish - Welcome.

I'm from Newcastle and it sounds like we have a very similar stomping fround.

We've not yet done Weroona but am seriosuly considering it this Christmas. How's that road in to Manno with a van on?

Cheers,
Rob

Gotta go mate, nice spot! The road in is sealed but very ordinary and the first bridge you come to is very narrow.....if someone comes the other way breathe in! Hope to see you there!

Hi Rob

Yeah, makes it easy to take off for the weekend when The Bay is only 40mins away. Leave after work Friday, setup by 5pm (beer on arrival), Home Sunday by mid morning, wash van cover up and done by lunch.

As Burnsy said Weeroona is a nice park but the road in you might want to hold onto the glovebox and prepare yourself for the bridge!
