how to bend a Ute

Bending ute chassis has been around since the ute I guess. Who can remember the one tonners, they would bend. And my dad worked in a truck repairers in the 50s and most of his work was making "fish plates" to stregthen the sides of bent chassis once they straighten them out. It's as @cruza driver said people have no idea about loading and balance. I would happliy have a tray back and fit airbags to it but by geez I'd have some pretty strong plates attached to the chassis in key points!

I was going through photos from a few years ago and found this one. Was taken in Cairns, the guy had been to the Cape towing a hard floor camper, The ute had a fair amount in and on it plus extended tow bar with rear step. Unbreakable Hilux but bendable!l

Had a bit of a cackle when i saw it. The guys at Mt Barnett said it sat around for a couple of months before being removed. Mechanic in Kununurra said it's fairly common with this style of camper.

I'd imagine they couldn't be insured to start with as any engineer would have to be mad to sign off on their design.
