Except that it's a relatively new vehicle I would have guessed that it was taken in the 70's in Alice Springs when they loaded/unloaded vehicles on the Ghan with a forklift, or slings for whinging Porsche owners. Oh how I wish that I had taken photo's, especially of that owners face, but we were all enjoying the show too much.

Actually the BT50 looks less like over loading and more like that it was airborne and came down on a big log. Bet that wiped the smile off of it's face.

Its definitely not from overloading, I was thinking it was more along the lines of being dropped on a wharf while being unloaded or loaded or something like that.

It all comes down to a bit of common sense really. I've seen some things that make me shake my head and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yes you can also be unlucky but most know it can happen. Its like Patrols cracking or bending rear spring towers not many would even consider checking theirs. There are companies that sell bracing kits.

Or Commodores that use to flex in the rear door jams when towing. I think there was a brace that use to go in the boot for those too on the early models.

At the end of the day pack sensibly, drive sensibly and travel safely for the road conditions.
We aren't all perfect I'm sure we have all been caught out buy an unexpected dip in the road.

I'm not singling out just these models but just using as an expample :thumb:

Hit the nail on the head @cruza driver , learning what to do and how to do it make all the difference. I think the ute bending problem is exacerbated by the fact that the tray has size, and many see this as being every last spot must be filled, without consideration of the weight.

one of the main reasons I prefer a wagon to a dual cab / single cab..........
the body stops at the end of the chassis

and yes your right @cruza driver & @crackacoldie 2nd lesson (after learning how to tow properly) most people should learn is how to pack your vehicle safely

I followed a 100 series up Gt Eastern Hwy once, he had enough crap on the roof to fill a 10x5 trailer....... was about 5 foot higher than the roof
and you couldnt see in the back window as it was chockka's

and he was sitting on 110....................

a sad accident waiting to happen

Thats horrifying

what is...................
the thought of what could happen.........
the knowledge that it does happen
the state of our roads that allows this to contribute to it happening.........
the brain fart that lets people think "she will be right" when loading their vehicle...........
our vehicles are not manufactured to do what we want to do with them...........

or

the fact it was a "smug" article baddly written...........
