I have a new expanda 17.56-2 outback and was wondering how much I can level up the van using the drop jacks?

I had the alko legs on my BlueTongue camper, and once you put a bit of weight on them the horizontal bolt (6mm?) bends, so i never put too much weight on them. Though i'd imagine if you could modify the feet it could take more? From what i understand they're not so much for levelling, more for stability?

Old mate at Ryans Caravans Dubbo told me not to worry about levelling ramps though, how do the rest of you lot feel about them? Gotta be a good thing i thought?

Don't use the stablisers for levelling. This will break them. Only wind them down until they are firm. I know they look like levellers, but they aren't and won't take the weight.

Legs aren't for levelling,... the round plate at the end is $25 aprox we broke two then On this site we saw a $2 cheapas chips bread board,
great on soft sand and muddy ground.yup we bought a ramp The same we only seem to use one "this was an upgrade from bits of timber"
now we have nothing to start the fire!!.

our wants are many our needs are few.
go for what keeps the majority happy.

Even when I had a tandem, I only used to lift one wheel, always got level. Perhaps it's just my lazy side shining through:couch2:

It's a lot harder with independent suspension!!

:behindsofa:
Just quietly... there was this one time, I had to move positions on the jockey wheel because I got airbags installed and it made the back of the car higher, and I couldn't wind the van up high enough. I "may" have put all the weight onto the front jacks and repositioned the jockey wheel... It was a one time thing, nothing bad happened, and I did it as fast as lightning....

Oh and that was with the 17ft'r, I wouldn't even think about doing that with the big girl!!

I often hold the weight on the stands to move the jockey wheel, no problems to date, I also have ramps but to date have never used them, I carry a long handle shovel and find it easier to make a hole than use the ramps, oh and getting the shower to drain good luck with that, I fitted a hospital grade rubber mat thing to keep the feet dry.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what if the van becomes level half way up the ramp? can you just leave it there and somehow chock behind the wheel?!?!

Also, we have the tandem axle, do you need to lift both axles or can you get away with just lifting one?
