I would not hire mine out, but I would hire one in another State, if that makes sense. I think one of those on the site is Adams. For someone thinking of buying, it is a good way to try before you buy.

We did a try before we brought down Geelong way not private though.
Hired a Expanda for a long weekend hence we buying the Starcraft.

I did think about doing hire longer term rather then buying, although really need to pack up car to take to Caravan or take the van back home to pack.
If I hired mine out I worry they either drive off and never see them or break something which I miss on inspection when they got back.
You have to argue scratches and chips is it really worth it.
Insurance is double I think from when I was chatting to someone at CIL.

We did a hire before we bought from privatecaravanhire.com.au. It's wasn't an Expanda that we hired, but a pop top Jayco freedom.

The concept is good, but I would not be inclined to hire my van out to strangers. It would even be a stretch allowing friends or family to borrow it unless I was very sure they would treat it the same as I would.

For older vans that you don't use much, it would still be something to consider to get a bit back from the investment.

I let friends (who are now no longer friends, but for other reasons) borrow our van one Christmas to take away with other friends who already had an Expanda, so I knew it would be looked after if things went wrong.
Anyway, it came back OK but I did notice a couple of small things,
so I won't be doing that again......

The problem when you hire things is that people who don't own the van don't really look after it as well as us owners. There's also the tricks that we have to setting up, they don't have.

I could see an inexperienced person breaking the awning slides and clips by not really opening and closing it properly.

I could also see heavy handed people breaking parts when attaching the annexe, and shade sheets.

Add that to general scratches and chips and I think you'll suffer the fate of someone slowly wrecking your van.

I let the inlaws use ours last Easter while they looked after our kids but I towed it, set it up went back and stayed in it and brought it home. Wouldn't lend it to Joe Bloggs, sorry Joe.
