Lucky this is a caravan site or we could get into a vigerous debate into the pros and cons of different types of fishing reels , Alvey is probably the only company in Australia that is in trouble because it’s product is too damm good,I am still using the same red cedar reel I bought with my first pay packet 54 years ago, I have been given alloy reels which corrode and fail after two years

Shimano makes two particular $50 reels, a Sienna and FX. Both have a 10 year warranty. A mate of mine bought a $1200 egg beater, he now has a new nickname and I can no longer call out his nickname when kids are around .... not sure what else there is to say about reels. :D

makes me laugh when you go to some fishing spots and you see a well heeled know it all with pile of super expensive gear skunked by a kid with a bit of line on a coke bottle,

It would be a poor argument with me @poor but proud something I actually don't know a lot about, I still have a Daiwa surf egg beater circa 1974 that is beaten, bashed and repaired, still working and a few other old egg beaters going strong, never could warrant the expense of an Alvey for the little use it would get while working, sort of like spending $80K on a van to use for 2 weeks a year,........ Now I can't be stuffed, the egg beaters still work.... But a full size 13ft solid beach rod is really the ants...

Just need some buddy fish.

I have my Alvey boat reel for sale on marketplace up here. Some interest but most people seem to fish with a rod whereas this one is meant to clamp to a rail.

As I mentioned the other day, Rainbow Beach to Double Island Point is not possible as Mudlo Rocks is washed away again, here's someone showing why you don't try when the sand is washed away.................. yesterday Friday, Rainbow Beach towing will recover today I believe.

Why do Landrover only put the buoyancy on the drivers side Dave ?? Can that be optioned up ?? ;)

My old Series III was just the best for crossing rivers, where others (read Tojo's) had to be winched due to river depth my old landy ( Loose Lucy) would cross like an Army Duck, the jeep service tyres acted like paddle wheels as she floated across the water, The saddle fuel tanks on either side became buoyancy tanks, little bit of water around feet and none in the back..................used to annoy the crap out of the rest of the mob who had to shut down and plug exhaust and cover carbie intakes if no snorkel.

Also the sand is coming back at Mudlo Rocks.................................... till the next big seas anyway.
