Funny story,
I had to get some new tyres for the cruiser today, I decided to install my new dash cam last night. The dash cam has 2 cameras, one facing forward and one to the rear. Anyway, I was going through the footage when I got home to see how good it was and noticed that I received a free service with my new tyres.. Lucky me!
Nothing was taken, but it has given me some ideas for when we go back for the free rotation!!

Are you sure he wasn't just looking for your locknut ? Some people don't think about tyre fitters needing it to remove the nuts !!
I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt.... however....
There were 3 drivers today:
The old guy who drove it into the shop and put it on the hoist, and fitted the tyres.
The young fella who drove it off the hoist (after tyres were fitted)
And old mate (in video) who test drove the car, and this is what he did prior to test driving, he was waiting in the car for another car to leave. There was no reason what so ever for him to look in the center console. And I did him a favour by not putting his face in the video.

Not that I know of, unfortunately the dash cam model I have doesn't have gps,
Pros- won't get me in trouble
Cons- can't prove other people were speeding

But looking at the other cars, he looked to be obeying the speed limit, his face said it all when he spotted the dash cam half way through the test drive...lol

My wife would be pleased about how calm you are about it and telling me you should be my role model. Bugger that, I'd be getting right up them. Grumpy is a nickname that's well earnt as it was both a job requirement and a joy.

As far as dash cams go I have one on the Ranger but it's only a single view but I could rotate it easily enough but then it wouldn't record the road. I also have to wire up the rest of the power supply kit so that it doesn't flatten the battery if I wanted to leave it on for something like you. I'd also have to disable the voice announcements as well that would give it away.

Do these things record whilst the car is parked? Would like to record people who knock into my car and drive off.

I'd be calling their Head Office , showing them the footage and demand a refund especially when they see the look of horror on his face when he saw the dash cam. BUSTED !! Stuff the tyre fitter he gave up all his rights the minute he actually started rifling through your personal belongings. He should be written up for it!!

@bigman0510 your a better calmer man than I sir, and I salute you
I'm with @PhilD
an email (with attachment) to both the shop concerned and their head office, with a request to be told the outcome of the Companies Investigations
or it will be sent to ACA / Today tonight tomorrow / Faceache

I once dropped my wife's LC off for a service at a Toyota here in Perth, about 10mins later when walking away around the corner, this Big Black Landcruiser Kakadu came flying past me well over the speed limit, and roared into a local lunch bar skidding to a stop......
unlucky for him, I was on the phone to the Toyota dealer (after I gave HIM a serve and a half on the side of the road, infront of a heap of people)
told them if I am to coming back within the next 2hrs it will be with my Lawyer and Mr Plod
" oh what do you want us to do about it....?"
if he is an idiot - sack him, if he is not give him a written warning
" oh thats a bit harsh, he was doing a test drive..."
um, I just dropped it off at 8.00am, service was due to start at 9.00am, and what was he doing going to a Lunchbar while doing a test drive?
"ummm, we will have to speak with him when he gets back"
no worries, cause I was just talking to a guy who was videoing the street, and he said I can have a copy of the footage, can you give me your HR Dept. number please?
"Oh, there is no need for that, we will contact HR, and they will be in touch with you...."

they did - about 2 hrs later - he was written up - also became one of their best servicemen I have found out
