Made a start on insulating the pipes - disconnected longer runs, but just split the insulation for the short sections of plumbing.....hopefully to reduce the chance of leaks when I test it all once completed. Haven't measured total length of pipe insulation required but I'm sure it will be fairly deceptive and much longer than first anticipated.

Pretty much got 90% of ours done today too. Misjudged how much I needed and fell short a couple of meters but feeling good about getting it done. Will finish the rest tomorrow.

open a older thread with a question seeing I am just starting to do ours :)
Are you all doing all the pipes and wires including the clear larger water pipes.
What are you doing with the brake wires :( I see those as the most likely to go.

I grabbed a couple of metre lengths from Bunnings to see what was needed looks like the 22 they run three seperate runs so need a bit of it to do everything. So a plumbing supply shop it will be as $4 a metre will cost a bit

I used plumbers insulation from plumbers shop for most of the water lines, long runs with 2 hoses I used 25mm corrugated drain hose from Bunnings 10m is $9, (same stuff I use for the van drain hose), does a good job, didn't worry about the clear hose it's very strong and flexible...
Wiring I used the plastic cable shielding, bought from Jaycar 20m was about $15 or less. Brake wires shielded the same and zip tied.......if you have PVC pipes, which they seem to be using a lot of I would be putting a rubber stone shield in front as that stuff will shatter with a good hit when it gets a bit older.............my grey water tank has a alloy outer skin screwed to it and is showing a few good hits.

On the old rig I even used 20mm clear plastic pipe over the water lines, had some doing nothing and worked a treat.

@Drover at the back of the van there is a lot of PVC pipes.
The foam stuff $4 a meter Bunnings where Plumbing shop local wanted $9 for 2m?
I was looking at the 32mm stuff to cover the big pipes. If I go smaller cheaper.

From Jaycar is it this stuff have plenty in the Shed never used mate gave me some he never used :)

That looks like the stuff for the wiring, should be split along the length could even use the larger size for covering the water lines.........you could use some AG pipe to cover the PVC pipes, its about $20 for 10mts, its the corrugated plastic stuff you bury as a drain, has small holes in it.

Have to shop around, Tradie section is usually the best spot as the little packages cost more. I look for what I'd ike then see the price so get something that will do the job, most worry about rock damage but I tuck my stuff up, protect from rocks but also from something grabbing it like a bit of blown tyre or dead Roo, have had more trouble from fuel lines and stuff getting ripped away by tyre rubbish and dead things when working, no dramas to date with the van. Never straddle road stuff unless you have to.
