Fan for fridge

I fitted a Fridge Fan today but hit a bit of a confusing hitch. I basically followed the Dreampod guide - but skipped the thermostat for now to troubleshoot. I sourced 12V power from the the bottom of the fridge - two thick wires that measured 13.6V with the car plugged in idling. Without the car running on 240v or with the van battery on or off there is no power to those connectors?

I thought the fridge could still run 12V from the van if needed - although it would drain the battery quick smart. Obviously not. Where else did people source 12V live from?

Cheers.

No your fridge does not run from the van battery at all, it only runs on 12 while plugged to car in saying that some do re-wire it to run from on board battery then use the vehicle/solar to recharge battery

As @Bushman said, you have found the 12v feed from the car (either 12 pin or Anderson). These are only live when car running. You will need to find a sep line to the van battery but will need some form of a switch or will run constantly.
