Hi guys, first post for me. It’s probably been asked before I had a quick search and couldn’t find to much. I have a 2018 17.56.2 outback and it has the standard one step galvanised retractable step, but I’m trying to find a product that I can attach another step to the existing one, so when we aren’t on level ground I can attach the step and it’s not so far off the ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys

There are a few double steps, but Ive never seen a commercial step that functions as both a single and double without rolling the dice and using the upside down lower step just folded over the upper step. A dude approached us in a freecamp last year trying to flog us an alum thing that sat on our step to extend the width for older less nimble feet, so I suppose any fabricator could knock up something that you wheeled out and attached when required.

Neat bit of kit @achjimmy and great for extra step if ground is level. @Ropey , the other alternative is what I have. When I had the axle reversed on my touring Penguin (springs on top of axle in lieu of springs under axle), this raised the van by a considerable amount and resulted in far too big a step from original drop down galvanized step to ground even on level ground. As the other half is vertically challenged, not only would this be awkward but dangerous. Sought out an adjustable portable step which is excellent. Each of the four legs is individually adjustable to 3 different height positions which lock into place. The top is provided with non slip material and I placed several strips of luminous "croc grip " non slip on some of those sections. Great at night too. The legs fold inward when not in use so are easy to store inside van ready for use. The big advantage is besides making the last step from van less of a distance, the adjustable legs allow the top to be made level to suit the terrain when off grid. About $80.00 from Jayco when I bought it a few years back. There are others out there cheaper, but they do not have the variable leg settings which is a "must" for uneven ground.

Few times by a river I've needed those steps, I ended up doing some excavating with a mini retaining wall to make a flat spot for my step..........even with no drop down/out steps on van it would be nice to have a set of clip ons to fit when needed, @achjimmy style is very cool I reckon.

I didn’t either Paul - clearing out the garage this last week in preparation for the move and there it was...I had forgotten about it - had it cleverly hidden away...were you after one?

Yes and no, I have had a whinge about having to carry an extra step, removing it from the doorway and putting it under the main step (which is damned high on the Journey) each and every time we stop. But I have never actually looked for the double step as it always seemed to be a bit too difficult. Maybe one day I might get serious about one. :behindsofa:
