Funny this conversation...I did this mod yesterday...couldn't get the grunt d ring brackets or white angle from Bunnings, don't stock anymore unless you go to geraldton (which funny enough we are there next week !)... so bought some c type eye hooks and went for occy straps.. had to get it done this weekend

Had a piece of old white angle in shed just for bottom part, figured I'll try and source more for top later

and yep snapped the first two screw heads off trying to get into border frame section...ahhh not happy, drilled one out but no good on the other

so moved half inch to left to flat bed section which was still hard to drill in...not happy about screws and one hole left over but hopefully can cover up

Can see benefit of using straps with buckles, occy straps I used could be lethal if anything fails but think the brackets are in pretty good....would love to see the profile of that frame and what gets drilled !!

Still came out good and pretty happy, holds two small folded tables and mat..couple of things out from the inside

Ps, my new neighbour decided to come over and introduce himself as I was trying to screw the angle on with silicone everywhere...well, woulda loved to have chatted but think he got the impression it was bad timing on his part !
I'll grab him a beer next time I see him and explain I'm not always grumpy

I too went t Bunnings looking for the "rings" - Handles - whatever.......
didnt have anything I liked
then poped down to Opposite Lock - as there was a SIDs and Kids Sausage Sizzle - (the 4WD club I am in is a major sponsor of the SIDs and Kids)
well, bugger me if OL didnt have EXACTLY what I wanted (look the same as yours @dagree )
so once my in-laws move out (they were / are staying the weekend) I will be attempting this major Home Handyman experience

Im at a loose end for a couple of weeks, as there is problems at the mine I work at, so I will take my time

My best advice @bigcol is measure twice... drill once and take your time. OH and make sure the drill bits are sharp and only sticking out of the drill chuck just far enough for the length of the screws ;)
Saves some herat aches (Previous experience but no on this van)

Can any of you confirm the gap between the lid and the base bed. How much is the actual gap?
I can't get to my Panda as we have to keep it in storage between major trips/mods.
I do have the privacy screen permanently attached.

Just went and had a quick measure @@Marv_marv.... The table, steps and mats sit about 100-110mm out from base and I can just feel the shadecloth/inside of door touching (Don't have the privacy screen yet!!!!)

Guessing the front maybe a bit less as I originally had the floor mats there and had to push to get the door closed.

Hi Hank,

They came fitted and wired as standard direct from Jayco... Light strip is actually fitted into the awning roller.
Cheers,
David

Bought a strip from 'Home of 12 Volt' in Mt Barker here in Adel, once van arrived, found the strip to large to fit into the awning 'groove'. Will have to check with Jayco to see if they have a different setup.
Thanks

yeah, @@Marv_marv, the Jayco ones on the new Vans are great - mine is last year (2013) so I missed out on that lovely feature
if Jaco sell them, let us know

I haven't been able to go out and check mine, as my In-Laws are in it at the moment
I DO have the privacy screens however.....

cheers

I wish.....
getting Canvas Screens made up the same as the Shade Cloth Jayco provide around the beds, nothing fancy, just incase it is raining - they will fit exactly the same as the Shade cloth ones - press studs

Be interesting to see them after they are done (Canvas screens that is).
Still waiting to get annex walls fitted (Mental note.... Don't order around the same time as the Caravan & Camping Show).
Going to get a price for the same when he comes to do the annex.

Where are you getting yours done @bigcol ?
