If you are running the fridge via the 12 pin, then that would be normal, it's pulling a lot of current.

Open both plug on the van and socket on the car and check for discolourisation on the wires. The insulation can shrink back in extreme cases and leave exposed conductors when they get hot from high resistance joins. If this is the case trims the wires back to good insulation and reterminate. If colours look good check the terminal screws are tight. A high resistance joint can be a loose terminal screw, corrosion on the pins and socket or loose pin in the socket and the latter can be fixed by levering with a screw driver the pins where they have a manufactured split.

mine did the same, gave me no problems for a couple of years then 1 day I couldn't disconnect the plug at all. The fridge wire got hot enough to fuse plug together (melted). So had to do the job I had always intended to do and ran fridge wire seperate thru anderson plug (heavier wire). No problems now.

Yep thats how most get around to doing the Anderson plug routine, with the correct gauge wire the sockets in the 12 pin are actually too small....but the pins will close and cause resistance and cook as explained above.....
