Has anyone had any experience with caravaning in the snow? I'm about to book a week down at Sawpit Creek NSW this winter.

My only concern is if it's a bumper season or if gets real cold, is all the plumbing on the van going to freeze up? Obviously I'm going to get a powered site.

Sounds a bit extreme to me skiddy, caravan and snow aren't two words I would use on the same sentence but hey there ain't much of that fluffy white stuff here in the Wild West

Yeah your right. I think for my first trip to the snow it might be a bit extreme. I'm going to stay below the snowline at Jindabyn.

We didn't have any issues at Sawpit Creek @BigSkiddy .....and we are from Queensland:drum:. Instead of running the heater we put electric blankets on the beds and had them warming the bed before we got in...worked like a charm.....and with the fireplace at Sawpit creek just sat around and channelled the old...... "Hows the serenity"

How did you get on with water freezing in the pipes?
Any issues?

When is Aldi getting ski gear again?

I think it normally comes out in May. Only problem is it's such a gamble as to what they have and if you can get in before the other vultures.
Might camp out in front of the local store the night before.

We are booked in to sawpit creek with our 20.63.1 mid August for a few days skiing. Great to see the Goodwins pics as we were not too sure about the layout of the site. Can anyone tell me how close the tap was to where the van is set up ? Had frozen pipes before at Wombeyan caves (-9 degrees overnight) and want to avoid that if possible. Not going to use my flat out hose - planning on a standard hose with some foam insulation around it - provided its reasonably close to the van. Anyone else with experience at Kosiuzko Mountain Retreat ?

Just back from Tassie in a motor home, stayed at Cradle Mountain, was negative something overnight. Needed the fan heater all night.

Powered sites there were $55 per night so we went without ($36/n) but it only got down to about 6 C so just used hot water bottles. (Last March)

That's something we want to do one day....looks great, how long does it take to get to the Skiing fields from Sawpit Creek @The Goodwins ? Was Firewood easy to get hold of or purchase?

Thx - HM
