our 2 yr old can navigate the iPad easily enough. Have stuff stored on there for her whilst we travel or stopped. Whilst we are away we pretty much don't watch tv. Use the laptop yes connected to the net through our android phones. If we did want to watch something, we have a 26inch tv and can connect the macbook to it through HDMI. Have never done it yet.

For the car yes 4 kids and a few hours is not always fun......
Once we get somewhere unless raining or the twins sleeping rather limit them.
We do have a lot of board games Monopoly, Scrabble etc on the iPad's though he he yes sad takes up less space..
Took a magic kit last trip to use while away and it did rain so TV got used. Although indoor heated pool used more in rain
