Car dilemma

I can sympathise.

We needed to upgrade vehicle last year and we went through the same exercise though ours had to be a buy price not a lease.

We couldn't justify the extra $$$$ for a cruiser and the patrol came in at a relatively good price so we went for that. It is mainly used for towing the van and doing the dump runs around here and is often just sitting there, waiting and languishing. I'd really worry if it was cruiser ( about another $40-$50k) with even more money tied up.

But then, leasing makes the total cost far more attractive, particularly if it's going to be used a lot!

Hang in, decisions do come eventually and a small thing may tip the balance.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma ? I am sorry I am just not a patrol fan anymore. they are trucks and there gutless. I mean really they are having issues reversing a van but are so called indestructible off-road!!!!
The 200 doesn't drive like a truck btw. It may not be as refined as a disco but it's not the lumbering fourbie of years ago. If you really like the patrol think about the conversation. @bigcol mentions or even just a LS7 chev. My Boss has a GQ with LS7 and gets 12-14s!!! He also has a 2015 landcruiser after selling the duromax 2500 Denali! The landcruiser can have a 70litre sub in place of the 35litre factory sub and it keeps the spare, it's just a lot of money for an extra 2 jerrie's worth is my bitch.

the problem with the Clutch will always happen, while you take it to Mr Nissan to fix
the dual mass flywheel is crap - and they know it - but wont do anything about it - but its standard...............

easy fix for clutch is get an aftermarket solid on - 4terrain, exceedy, who ever
no more problems

the dual mass flywheel was designed so that when changing gears, there was NO clunking / whiplash / etc - good in theory - crap when towing
a bit like the twin balance shafts on the old Astron 2.0 - 2.6 Mitsubishi engines
with them in, you can leave a glass of water on top of the motor while running, hardly any ripples, so smooth as soft
take them out however, and it does wobble around, but you gain an extra 15% more power......... and no harm to the engine........

I admit (but just dont remind me..........:o) the 200 drives very nice for what it can do
the price and the plastic put me off.....( like the 80 series too much plastic for such an expensive car)
and
I agree about the sub tank - lot of money for bugger all gain

and if I was not towing, an LS6 /LS7 would be nice............... thirsty, but nice................

the mob I was thinking about for the V8 diesel conversion is
https://piddiesel.com/

you would realy need to think serious about keeping the car for more than 5 years to make it worth while $$$$ size

but
I was a passenger in his ute for a quick lap around the block

"un-freaking-believable" were the words used to describe the ride

the bit that got me for about 5 minutes was what it says on the web site

Being a fully electronic diesel, the Duramax offers switchable tuning with five different power maps – economy, light towing, heavy towing, low performance and high performance modes. This can be switched on the move using a rotary dial in the cabin.

he was talking about it, then, when we went for a slow drive, he showed what it was capable of...........

"oh-my-freaking-lord....................."

like getting into a 1967 mini, and then getting out of a Ferrari..............

I did think about selling my first born so I could get one in my car............. I cannot lie........
