Hey Drover, did you ever eat at the Airmens Mess on the base? I designed and documented it as a very young architect, seconded to the Dept of Works. The fit-out of the kitchen and the equipment was amazing, it could cook for 750 persons at one time! It also had the largest dry store and butchers store i have ever seen.

It was pretty flash thats for sure.....first there on 74 as a sailor then later in the 80s as a Raafie it still impressed.

A revisit Christmas 2021 and its still impressive, of course being Xmas no discounts ................ We do like the place, and save up all year to stop here, not much choice in Canberra .
