So got the new panel on the ute today, battery and fridge are all back in their rightful places and running once more.

Got a few more bits and bobs for the trip.

Heard from the previous owner of the caravan, he's throwing in a Thetford 335 porta potti and the pop up ensuite (that I was going to do anyway) along with a bunch of other caravan stuff they had they don't need anymore.

I'd say i've won out on this haha

Today's random mod to the D40.

EDS computer mounted to the dash.

Still learning how to get the screen to show the data I want and what one it'll default back to when I change a setting. But the Trip computer data is going to be good for towing the caravan.

Its an easy as unit to use, so aside from the dodgy hole in the Dashto run the data cable (expertly hidden behind the EDS) i'm happy with it

Also hoping I'll be able to chase down the random surging in 2nd and 3rd when accelerating. Had it in a mechanics (Good mate of mine) and we can't find it, can't replicate it, just does it at random and can go days between doing it...

One out, one in was the idea haha.

Day 1 done and dusted. A new first for me, hanging a left here instead of blowing right past.

Stopped for the night at Barkly homestead. D40 hasn't fallen apart or tried to kill me yet, so I'll put this down as a good day.

Some random phone pics. I've got a ton more ill Put up after the trip from my dslr.

The scenic walk to my cabin for the night (figured I might as well be comfortable after 1100km and 2 hours of study before bed)

Longreach tomorrow.

I remember about 2011 era it was 170 give or take for diesel in Darwin standard. I was budgeting on $2 a litre anyway.

It's a nice place. Quite impressed with the setup

I wasn’t. When we stopped there in 2006, their generator had problems overheating so the shed it was in had doors etc all open and the noise was horrendous. We thought it would shut down when the pub closed but no, it ran all night to keep their fridges running. No sleep, no apologies, no discounts. Have been past twice since but have not stopped.
