Hey Jas

How did you find them and how was the quality of their work on your van?

My father in law was treated in a similar fashion to myself. I think that camperland need to learn how to treat customers and take responsibility for their actions. Thinking back to it, we were treated poorly by their sales people also both in the yard and at the show the other year.

I have had some health things go on the past couple of weeks so have only gotten to placing my phone call to Melbourne this morning. Currently awaiting the QLD Jayco guy - Gary, to call me back.

Wait and see.
Cheers

Hi ants, Dropped the van off for it's first service on Monday morning. They walked me through the van and took down the warranty items. We have an issue with the fridge on 12v and got a call that day from them with an update, all good so far. Now is when things start going pear shaped, not with Jayco though. Going home after work, after dropping the van off I got hit up the rear by a P Plater. It was a glancing hit and the Hayman Reece hitch opened his camry up like a tin can. The towing gear took all the hit fortunately for the Prado, with only a small bit of damage where the stone stomper got pushed back onto the car. Got the Hayman Reece inspected and it's slightly damaged and not recommended that I Tow. So rang Jayco and told them I was unable to collect the van, and it all depended when insurance would change my towing gear. They had no issue keeping it in the yard. So, so far Jayco have been good. So things were looking grim for our holiday at Easter, NRMA have been brilliant though. Given my predicament they squeezed my assessment in and are happy for me to get the tow bar replaced in advance of the panel repair. So off to get the new towing gear on Monday and get me Panda back just in time for our Easter trip. Our holidays were looking off, now they are back on. Will let you know how I go with jayo after Monday. Jas

Ouch! Glad hasn't impacted too much on your Easter break. Know that sinking feeling though. Had a similar experience years ago when towing van (Swan) home from a service just prior to a trip when a learner truck driver rear ended van while I was stopped at lights (sorry, I didn't see you!). Back to service place, repaired in 24hrs and 6 week holiday saved.

Holden_man that really sucks. Glad its all getting fixed up for you nice and quick. Glad to hear your dealings with Brisbane Camperland service was ok.

On another note,
I finally got a chance to make my phone to Jayco Melbourne on Thursday - have had some health issues the last couple weeks but that is another story.

I spoke to Gary who is the guy that looks after QLD issues. He was great to deal with, very accepting of my issues and nothing was too hard for him to organise.
The long and the short of it, The van is booked into East Coast RV's at Southport on the 8th of April and they will have the van for 2 weeks to do all the repairs that need to be done. So after waiting since October last year, we should finally have everything fixed up. Heres fingers crossed.
I must say to, East Coast RVs were most obliging also. So much more so than Brisbane Camperland. My first time at Brisbane Camperland for warranty work was fine, it was just getting these last items fixed and the fact that they did not want to budge on time frames when it was no fault of mine that either Brisbane or Melbourne cancelled the part.

IMO I believe brisbane never actually ordered the part and this is because when I called them they had no record when looking it up on their computer system whilst I was on the phone. And the fact that they had not called me didn't help matters.

Will let you know how the warranty work goes. :)

Antman, glad you are taking the van East Coast RV, they are really great to deal with, helped me through a few problems so I have no hesitation recommending them. I'm sure you will be happy with the results but if not, just tell them and they will go all out to satisfy you. Good luck with all the repairs.

Hey All

Dropped the van to East Coast RVs this morning. Its with them for the next two weeks. I must say at this early stage that if their product quality is as good as their service there will be nothing to worry about. The drop off service was amazing in comparison to Brisbane Camperland. They were out on the road to greet me even before I had finished pulling up. The guy helped my unhook the van. He then listened to everything I had to say and took it all in and nothing I said or mentioned was too hard for them.

Thanks so much chartrock for letting me know about these guys.
I would not hesitate to recommend them so far to anyone and even highly recommend making the drive down from Brisbane to have your work done by these guys. And then on your way back to Brisbane, stop at a good seafood place like charis seafoods at the broadwater and pick up some fresh seafood for dinner. :)

We are even thinking that the Friday we pick the van up, booking into a local park down there and spending the weekend. :)

I will let you know how the repairs go.
Cheers

Had a call this morning from East Coast RVs just to give me an update on how the van work is travelling. Must say very impressed still! :) as we never received this type of communication from Brisbane Camplerland.
The update showed me that these guys are going over and above the call of duty. It shows that they actually understand the caravan and what it is designed for. It showed me that they looked at the warranty faults and not only fixed these but also other issues that these faults have caused and fixed these also. :)
He said that they are still on track at this point in time for the original time frame quoted.

Absolutely exceptional customer service! I will certainly recommend these guys and go back there if the need arises.

Will update you all when I get the van back. :)
Cheers

Hi All
Picked the Van up this morning from East Coast RV's.
I can not believe the difference in service and quality of workmanship.

These guys went above and beyond my expectations. As I have said above, communication was amazing. Now I can certify that the workmanship is absolutely fantastic :applouse: :becky:  :first: also. Nothing was too hard for them and everything was completely and thoroughly explained to me. Their service level also extended to hitching up to my car.

Very very happy.
Here is a list of work performed all under warranty:

1. Awning Replaced as barrel was damaged and the awning had a nick in it. This included the barrel and the awning itself but not the arms.
2. Roof struts replaced all around. Now my roof pops up the way it should YAY
3. Front bed end strut replaced as it was installed in the wrong spot and popped off and got damaged. I corrected the installation error at the time (had to be able to close / open the lid) but the strut itself was damaged.
4. Curtains at the back bed end replaced as there was a hole in one from factory.
5. Shower - All walls removed and re-glued as the glue was done incorrectly from factory. Camperland had apparently fixed one but you should have seen the glue underneath... **sighs and shakes head :censored:  **
6. The grey stuff on the front of van - resprayed and refinished - ours originally had no grit in it and thus actually damaged from minor road rocks. looks a million bucks now! :whoo:
7. Re-fibreglassed the entire front of the van - the fibreglass had air pockets underneath it that should not exist and due to road use had actually caused holes to appear in the fibreglass. - looks a million bucks now! :whoo:
8. Buffed and Polished bed end lids to bring to the same finish as the new fibre glass. In doing so, found the the front bed end lid also has imperfections. Have ordered a new lid for fitting in the future.
9. New Microwave installed as old microwave was not secured properly and thus general use had caused the microwave to rub the finish off the door.
10. Hand pump rebuilt inside so no longer drips - again camplerland had apparently done this but I reckon it was worse after getting it back from them. Does not leak now :)
11. Where the pop top and roof meet, the paintwork in the corners had cracked and crazed. My in laws van also has this and camperland told them this is just what happens. Maybe it is, but East Coast RVs said no it should not and fixed this also. They did tell me the technique behind it but I didn't really understand so I can explain it to you guys. Just know it is fixed. Happy camper.
12. Cupboard latches replaced - some of these were a bit sticky and sometimes would also pop open whilst travelling.

They had the van for 4 weeks. Kept me informed the whole time and the worked performed looks fantastic.
Thanks chartrock for telling me about these guys. :)

I would suggest to anyone living Sunshine Coast (yes I would travel that far), Brisbane or Gold Coast to make these guys your first best friend. :amen:

Cheers

That's great news, Ants. Good recommendation not just for members in the Sunshine State. For those who travel North it's good to know of somewhere that's really reliable when we're away from our comfort zone.

Good to hear, Ants. It certainly looks like they came through for you. I agree with you thoughts on recommendations for them.

On a side note, I sent a mate to them with his windup Goldstream and they are happy to repair it but they are booked solid for the next 5 weeks. :(

well a bit of a while since i updated our van but we haven't really done anything till now.

We have been wanting to put some shelves in the cupboard as the main cupboard in the 16.49-3 really is useless with all that height and no shelves.

So we got some 9mm MDF and some pine dar. We basically put the dar in each corner and just sit the 9mm MDF on top of the pine screwed in. We pre-drilled these and then assembled inside the cupboard. We only screwed one screw into the existing cupboard and this was enough to hold the entire frame as it was basically self supporting due to being in an enclosed space.

After fitting it all, we just clear coated with some cabots cabothane. Now we have a functional cupboard. YAY!

Here are some pics:
