yes @Dobbie Jayco's after sales and warranty is great

its just their quality control that sucks balls

It will only take one manufacturer to bite the bullet and give a longer term warranty and the others will follow.

Whilst Jayco is great with and often beyond the 1 year, they do have an 'out' if it's over 12 months.

I joined the Lemon FB group just to see what sort of issues they are talking about, and I'm actually pretty happy I bought a Jayco, even though Jayco appears on their 'buyer beware list' but from what I can see, so does every other manufacturer on the planet.

I'd like to see some strengthening of consumer protection in this area, as there seems to be a lot of people getting burned, either through their own ignorance or simply by bad products.

Being a firefighter, I'd be out of a job if there were more smart people out there, but alas their are more that need protection from themselves and those that pray on their ignorance.

Water and gas in tare drop the ATM so not much difference. A proper weigh station receipt per van should be the norm unless they never mod them at all so they the same build over and over.

I think with weights if people over load like cars it's not the manufactures problem.
If you add solar and bike rack like we did then your eaten into your payload.
You can wrongly load a van and it will have problems even if under.

I have spoken to people first hand who have problems with non Jayco vans and got the run around. Vans should not leak and if you build them from timber and they leak your in trouble. Some manufactures do not do front windows anymore as that is where leaks happen towing in heavy rain.

I also spoken to people with jaycos who never had any problems with their van.
Remember those who have problems normally post more.

That's a fair description is it? Arsey? or maybe, competent and careful?

o_O

I'm going to take @Drover 's advice and continue to avoid Facebook....but I'm obviously interested in this whole discussion.

People are certainly more inclined to post about problems they have rather than levels of satisfaction.

I'm sure there'll be some follow up on the radio and, as I'm a radio addict, I'll try to report anything significant I hear about....not the rehashed arguments but anything new....just to keep those interested informed.

Any Facebook gems you come across I'd love to hear about.

(I'm actually tempted to suggest we start a poll re satisfaction with Jayco....but think it's better to steer clear of any legal issues.....for the record, my vote is yes, satisfied with the product, yes, satisfied with their approach to warranty and yes, satisfied with dealer service and yes, satisfied with value for money)

It's actually one of the rules on that Lemon page not to post good stories, so its only ever going to be the bad ones you see on there, but still interesting to see what issues people are having.

true enough, you will always hear about people bleating on about this broke or that was wrong

and very rarely here about happy people
and
when you do, its a single line in a thread saying "I'm happy with mine"

so it is not really included in the gripe at the time

I am happy with my Jayco, and apart from 3 minor problems, have been trouble free
