Did anybody grab a BBQ in the sale from a seller in Perth called Tom, looks like he is now having trouble supplying, I think he sold a heap of BBQ's he didn't have. I am chasing a refund now. Picked up my other Q2000 from the brisbane seller and all good. Pretty good for $200.
Sad to say it doesnt surprise me. Good luck with the refund @Holden_man . Let us know how you go

Have been getting emails from Tom and Ebay themselves. At this stage I understand Tom is busy. I am not concerned at all because it was proper Ebay/Paypal promotion.

I would also understand if Weber said, sorry we don't have your 700 bbq's in stock. Its a lot of BBQ's and then there are other sellers. If however the sale falls over, I will request a refund from Paypal and a discount from another seller via Paypal.

I would have bought one if I didn't already have two webers. It annoys me when you buy something & it isn't dispatched by the next day especially if it's one of these big promotions. I did however buy a 'fur real pony' :oops: for $50 in the last ebay 5 minute promotion & it arrived in 2 days.. Anyway if you payed by paypal they are very good if there's any drama..

I am getting the same emails, but I am concerned the Ebay emails are faked, as they haven't shown up in my Ebay Messages. Ebay say they will never email direct to you only, always by email messaging.
I got this email from him which worries me, I will be chasing a refund, and have lodged a dispute with Paypal. Luckily for me I purchased a second unit from a seller in Brisbane which turned out to be a camping shop. Picked it up on the weekend.

this was his email to me........I reckon he might be dodgy......

It is not from me personally.

Ebay is worried that I am not going to fulfil orders and have frozen my bank account.

I am still a bit confused myself and am dealing with eBays lawyers. I hope that puts you at ease.

Well it should put you at ease more than I am at the moment.

eBay have been in contact with me all week, this has slowed me down, but now it could speed me up maybe, although now I am getting the flood of OMG OMG OMG you passed all my personal details onto eBay. rest assured this is not the case.

I will check if I can do the refund or if eBay have to do it now on Monday.



If not have you got details, name or address @Holden_man ? If close enough might be able to get a posse organised over here ;) Or will just send @bigcol over to pick it up for you 8-)

I'll keep that in mind mate..... :)

One of the reason I stopped buying stuff from fleabay, dodgy Aussie sellers, duck shove you around, wont leave feedback about you paying, "until you leave feedback. For them"

Makesure you have logged a dispute, cause after 30 days you then cannot, and you loose your coin.

@Holden_man, I have received an email from eBay, but it is not to my message section, just to my normal email. I have spoken to eBay, they have checked into my bbq purchase and have advised me that everything is legit. Maybe give them a call yourself and confirm. I think the seller should have only sold stock he had on hand.

The little man in the back of my head is reminding me "if its too good to be true......." The main thing is it is above board with Paypal. That I can confirm.

Thanks mate for the info. I agree, he should have only sold BBQ's he had. I am sure Paypal will sort it, Ebay also. In that email from Ebay they offered a refund and I accepted that, also lodged a dispute. The main reason I am getting out is because we wanted the BBQ before going to the corner, this seems unlikely now. I reckon you will be ok as long as you are happy to wait. I bought a second during the sale, then realised I wasn't allowed to. Ebay told me it would be ok. So I've collected the second BBQ for the trip now for $200, so all good, just need to wait for the refund for the first one.
I am confident it will work out.

I will wait another week or so. Delivery was estimated for mid Sept. I'm in no hurry. I have a 100 baby q anyway, just found it too small with growing family.
 
We purchased ours through Tom and all is well on the supply front. eBay have joined in to assist him in the logistics of delivering all his sold items and I think their last email promised delivery around the 19th.

I don't think Tom was ready for the onslaught of discount BBQ buying frenzy, but his post sales communications have been great. Hats off to him for seizing the moment and running with it.

I am losing confidence, last email didn't sound promising. He has got until Wed', then I will lodge a refund request with paypal and ask for the opportunity to buy off another seller with the same discount.

Just checked his feedback. 47% and dropping. Might contact Paypal tomorrow.

We had our refund turn up yesterday, so you won't have any issue getting your money back. Paypal by now will be all over this one.
We got his last email as well, I don't have the same level of regard for Ebay seller Tom as Hightech Mariner. He got greedy selling BBQ's he didn't have without any clue how many he could supply. He's a shonk.
I hope your BBQ does turn up, it is certainly cheaper, and if not, will be interesting to see if Ebay lets you transfer the discount to another supplier.

Got our BBQ delivered today so Tom got the job done, just needed to be patient. It was a touch over 3 weeks. To his credit he did keep communicating and he answered my email query asking about delivery, he gave me correct eta and order number. All worked out well.
