Mate you gotta remember the P76 and various other disasters got COTY at times

I mean how could anybody rate anything below a Paj?

In all seriousness probably a good call I think there are almost there with the D4.

I was checking some D4’s today and the accessories, are they for real with that @#$%en tow hitch? Surly it’s a plough and LRA just forgot the seed bag attachment. I would have to drive around on max lift to avoid grounding it on Sydney speed bumps and carparks

I had mine attached on the weekend (with a recovery shackle inserted rather than towball) - no problem hitting anything with it as yet. The D3 one on the other hand hung a lot lower....
The whole lot can be removed very easily (with a key) and stored in it's cubby hole behind the trim.

A common option is the Mitch Hitch http://store.mitchellbros.com.au/discovery-3-4-and-rrs/discovery-3-tow-hitch.html but I reckon it might sit a bit too high for the Expandas. (plus costs >$750, and mounts off the rear recovery point)

So how's your Disco 4 treating you SD?

I reckon there are heaps of BT50's because the waiting time for a Ranger is too long!

Thought I'd stick up for you mate!:biggrin1:

D4 folk at home don't tow very much. Their trainers move the horses around and only wretched gypsies have caravans. one model you had to cut a hole in the body to get a wiring harness fitted. It's a cool 4x4 though, give most a run for their money; expensive and complicated and a nightmare to work on. Really great if you have a LR technician in the family (as I do). But understand regular factory service is essential and any work will cost $$$'s. Like having an Alfa.

Poor Expanda's been towed by the BT50. The poor van has to look at the ugly back end of the ute. What did the Panda ever do to deserve this :) :) :)

If BHP didnt order so many Rangers the waiting list wouldnt be as bad...

I think someone does not like BT 50's. BHP must buy Rangers for a reason, I think it may be safety related. Did I read somewhere both cars had development work done In Australia. I am not a Ford fan but I think it was good that Australian workers had some input into both models, a bit more than a Japanese Company saying , "here is your new car".:wink::wink:

Macca the engineering for Ford in Asia, India and Sth Africa comes out of Broadmedows. I think the BT50 and Ranger is a joint factory in Thailand. I went had a look at the BT50 last week, the looks grow on you and the inside is great. I hear they go pretty well too.

FYI I hear there's rumour of a Ranger wagon like Mits do with the Challenger and Nissan with the Pathy, that should be quite interesting, especially with Nissan bringing out a hairdressers version of Pathfinder next year.

I think the joke days of LR are over, they seem to have a well engineered sorted product from my observations. When you look at issues with cruisers and the D4D motors in Toyotas and then the joke that has been Nissan and the 3l I think the Disco holds its own, the numbers for comparison are less I would think . Also then compare the fit out they are well ahead of anything the Japanese are offering IMO.

Stop picking on my BT-50. What did it ever do to you??? The expanda likes being towed by the BT-50 a whole lot better than by our Nissan. They co-operate well together and cut the fuel consumption by 30%. To be honest I don't know how BT's came up in this conversation since they don't even fall into the category for 4wd of the year. But what would you know it... it won it's category for the second year in a row http://theage.drive.com.au/photogal...2012-best-ute-of-the-year-20121128-2ads3.html In 2011 it beat the Range 6 vote to 3! (haven't seen how many for 2012) Maybe BHP just wanted a substandard ute????
