Earlier this year I reckon it was one if these I spotted wrapped in black padding heading towards me. It was a a Toyota by the badge I spotted on the front.

It had the big backend but the front was heavily disguised

Read the fine print. The difference between the Rangers GVM and GCM is only 2800kgs. So if the Ranger is loaded to its GVM its tow capacity is reduced to 2800kg.

No denying they are agricultural. And well behind the competition in many area, but they are far more reliable.

Having had a Ranger, I love to sh1t stir about them. It did serve me well, minus the regular breakdowns.

One of these would look great parked next to my 14 Prado.....so check argument.......darl you get the Prado and the camry, which you hate for its lack of power and access, gets traded for my, I mean A, new Hilux...what could go wrong with that thinking.......

Kind of a bit of Amarok about the front and sides.

Power and torque is a two edged sword. There is only so much you can ring out of a 4cyl diesel before reliability goes backwards.

No denying that but it's not a whole tonne quoted on the adverts

Or you can look at it the other way. Total GCM is
If you tow 3500 kg, you can only carry 300kg in the car.Similar with Colorado.
If you need the 3.5 ton towing, you can do it, but with limitations.
I actually prefer Toyotas method. It's 2500, regardless of vehicle payload. No confusion or Gray areas, and to be honest, it a more realistic figure. 3.5 ton being towed by a basically unloaded ute is not ideal.
I'm critical of Toyota when it comes to the Prado 2500 tow rating. I see it as ensuring 200series sales. But on hilux I think they have it right.
