@twscoot I have been told by them they don't weigh them with gas bottles on at all empty or full
I thought that might have been the case. Thanks Bluey.
So 15+15+20=another 50kg of payload plus water.
That's probably why my ball weight (as originally stamped) was actually never possible.

Hi Draino. I have a late 2014 17-56-2OB with and extended drawbar and JTec suspension. I tow with a 2014 Prado and the door clears every thing with plenty to spare, although if you have your Jockey wheel in lowest position it will be a problem as it sticks up quite high. My van Had and ATM of 2575Kg but after some discussion with Jayco and having an actual weight from a weigh bridge they agreed to drop to 2500Kg Good luck on what ever you choose.

Hi guys we are in the process of buying an expanda and are just wondering is anyone running a 150 series prado with a standard length draw bar?

Im just concerned that I'm going to have rear door opening dramas when the vans hooked up and also not being able to set the van up for over nighters while still being hooked up.

Do i need to buy one with the extended draw bar?

Can i buy second hand and get a new draw bar fitted?

Spoke to a person yesterday and they mentioned an extended haymen reese tongue, which the web sight has but doesn't mention if the ball weight is reduced.

Any info is appreciated please.

Cheers Dwayne Newman WA

I have a 2014 150 series with genuine tow bar stamped at 2500 kgs and 250kgs on the ball. Also looking at a 17.56-2 ob 2014

just do it mate they are a nice rig, the dealer is going to make sure the plate is 2500kg or less on the atm, put this in the contract to cover your bum if they don't come to the party.

I just pocked up my 2012 17.56 wth my 150 series the rear door doesnt open the full 90 degrees but about 60 degrees. Mine has a standard draw bar i think. Might not be much help.

Just for your info driving a 2014 facelift 150 series towing a 17:56 with the short draw bar. No issues opening the door and we have the stone guard on as well. My advice though if you have the option get the extended draw bar. But you probably have already decided that!

Thanks for that we ordered one with an extended, your pic still doesn't look like much room to open the door, does it open all the way?

I noticed you were using the V6 what was the consumption like? How do you compare the diesel to petrol for acceleration +90km/hr while towing? Whats the diesels consumption like now? I currently pull a 16.49-3 pop top with the older 120 series v6 and get about 17 to 18l/100km but had as bad as 23l/100km just before the tyre blew on the van (think that might have explained such high fuel usage).

Thanks

Similar numbers as you got with the Petrol 150 @Doug the new 150 is like chalk and cheese I think its around the 12 to 14 when towing the 17:56 I actually towed a 16:49 with the petrol 150 and found the 17:56 tows better.

Do you think it tows better because of the dual axle vs single axle? Do you notice a vast difference in acceleration with and without the caravan? I am concerned for overtaking ability with the 2.8. More kw with same torque would have been nice. Sorry to hijack the thread.
