Have been talking to Mrs Dagree after showing her photo's from the Facebook Jayco Expanda Caravans page of a recent accident south of Perth and reminding her of the story of friends of ours that wrote off their 200 series and $70K van:oops:. Have done a search on here and all I can find are posts on new vans being ordered with ESC fitted.....

Just wondering if anyone with a retrofitted ESC has noticed any difference towing the van before and after having it fitted?

Have done the usual Google search and all come up positive.... Could be the most expensive mod done (Apart from the annex walls) but as SWMBO'd said "You can not put a price on a life"

Long story short....... Every comment I've seen so far has been a positive. Anyone got anything negative to say about them?

Be honest... I have had no swaying that I have seen on my van @dagree that's the beauty of this system it's stops the swaying before it happens. Only time I have noticed mine working is on dirt tracks when I have forgotten or have been too lazy to disconnect it for off road use.
I don't think they would be hard either to fit because I am pretty sure the blue wire goes in the Al-Ko module and then you run the 4 wires to your drum brakes. If you need some photos and can take some for you tomorrow if ya like.

Your friends that unfortunately wrote there van off was that the one on Perth Now with a road train going in the opposite direction and sucked the van into the road train.... That would have been a shock to the system.... I hope there doing ok too.

Would be keen to see some pics @skippy but from what I've read they need to be fitted by an ALKO agent as they also need setting up to suit the size, weight, number of axles etc etc..... Definitely one of the only mods I don't want to do myself.

Our friends incident wasn't the recent one reported but 2 years ago with a road train passing them in the same direction and now have the Hayman Reece antisway attachment fitted. They have advised us to fit the same but we can't with the Tregg hitch so the ESC is the best optiom I have come up with

Maybe Martin is a agent @dagree if not I am sure he would be able to advise you who would be surely.

I think that the AL-KO is a far better option as well David.

I will try and get you some photos after work tomorrow.

they started pre-wiring vans I think from this year so hopefully it does not cost much more to add.
We got it as we never towed before and thought for $1k worth it from our trips so far we have not noticed any wobble on freeways getting over taken by trucks.

I just looked at it sometimes even 1% that will make a difference.

We had ESC fitted to our van @dagree after we took delivery. Had it done by Ken Peachey Caravan Repairs in Belmont. Cost about $1700 from memory. I have felt it come on a few times, always nice to know it's there if needed

@@ Been told I got wrong, it was $1400 @@

Yep..... and we Wait Awhile (WA)
@jeff 's costs were for retrofitting after the van was built.... Unfortunately I didn't get time to call around this afternoon for current pricing :(

ALKO's website said around $1,000 fitted to new build and $1,300 - $1,500 retrofitted.

No argument from me @Bluey ... Will definitely be getting one fitted no matter what. Just gotta shop around for best price ;)
It's like the winch and other recovery/safety gear I have on the Prado and in the boat...... Something that you buy and hope you never need to use ;)

If our van wasn't built to be used as a demo and we ordered it we would have had the ESC fitted to order.
