Hi. (Apologies if I’m wrong thread). New to me 17.56-2. Looks like the water mains inlet only fills tanks. I would have thought I could bypass tanks and just use mains water at parks. Save me towing extra weight. When I ran water in hose fitting it just filled tanks. When I looked at inlet the mains hose looks to just connect to both tanks. Is this normal?

Don't think so. I haven't seen anything like that before. Usually if you want to fill the tanks from a hose you can screw on a hose tap fitting to the filler ports...

The normal setup is for that inlet to run (via john guest push fittings) to a pressure limiting/reducing valve under the floor about where you were kneeling to take the picture. Then from that valve to a tee piece in the black cold water line. My guess is you will find a joiner in the line right where the tee used to be.

So you will need a new female thread (3/4 possibly) to jg push fitting, a length of jg pipe, a prv with an integral check/non-return valve, a u clamp to secure under the floor, 2x male thread (again 3/4 possibly) jg to push fitting , and a jg tee piece.

Make sure the connections from the inlet to the valve are perfect as a leak there is at full pressure... Speaking from experience...

Looks like a set up to pressure fill tanks, quite like that idea ............... It could have a seperate mains connection outside underneath as many change the mains point ....... the only problem I can see with that pressure fill is it fills both tanks at the same time so drama if one isn't empty but then you could fill by the other fill point....

I did toy with the idea of a 12v operated valve that, when on, let water flow from the mains connection into the tanks. Then I told myself to not be so lazy.

And my life changed when a random person showed me this.
IMG_20220614_111942.jpg A hose fitting simply screws on!

I did move the hose connection to the chassis so I don't have to open the flap every time. And the old connection (which is now disconnected) is a great spot when I need to feed my external antenna cable inside
