Hi all

About 16mths ago my phone rang. It was my wife, asking was I alright, “yea why”? I said.
The grand kids had rung her and told her I was sitting on the lounge crying.

I then had to explain that I was reading through the “funny, dodgy photos and jokes/ funny stuff” sections of of the caravan forum I had come across a couple of years earlier.

As per my username you will understand why it has taken me a few years to eventually sign up.

We started camping/caravaning in late 2015, after trips to resorts etc we decided we wanted the grandchildren to see and explore the real Australia.
First a Jayco eagle, then approx 12mths later decided we (at our age) needed to have some creature comforts (setting up and packing up wasn’t doing my back any good) and separate sleeping area for the two grand kids who are with us full time so we traded up to a 17.58.3 OB.

Two years ago we had a major move and have had spend a lot of time to re-establish support networks etc for the grand kids (both have disabilities).

We like everyone else, are hoping that 2021 is better and we can get back on the road, unfortunately due to specialist medical reasons we are limited to 4 weeks at a time, (working how we could get around that will require some organisation). School will just has to fit in to our plans.

I will detail mods etc (with pictures) in appropriate threads and look forward to be part of this amazing forum

Cheers

Welcome to the friendly forum, @Grandpa Gunna. Good to have another oldie on board. :D :D Glad you enjoy our members humour in the threads you mention, you will also find more funny stuff in the banter between members. It sounds like your van progression is similar to a lot of our members.
You must have your hands full looking after your grandkids but it appears it is a labour of love. :clap2: Good luck with your plans.
We look forward to pics of your setup and any mods you have done.

Welcome to the group @Grandpa Gunna , you are following a common line and many of us moved to vans with a fixed roof for the exact same reasons........ Looking forward to reading and seeing your adventures..............

Thank you for the welcomes fellow forumites ( is that a word? ) if not, is now!

Question how do you add someone's username, ie @********* ( comes up blue) to your posts to acknowledge them?

Think I will have to use laptop instead of phone until I get used to posting

That’s it exactly. Just type @ followed by the user name with no space. It doesn’t show blue until you post.
