i just replaced all of the blade fuses in the Setec with resettable circuit breakers.

Should make it a lot easier finding and resetting when a fuse goes.

If you are blowing fuses often enough to justify circuit breakers, I'd recommend looking closely at the cause.

I've only ever blown 1 fuse, however it's a lot easier resetting a circuit breaker than finding a replacement fuse, assuming you have one.

My house has had circuit breakers for 30 years, I don't see the difference.

Yep, fair enough mate - just from the original wording I took the wrong assumption :)

Were they very expensive to buy?

Or get circuit breakers ;)
Yeah, I thought about it quite seriously. In the Penguin, only two of the 10A supply fuses are actually used, (plus the battery fuse), so there are something like six spare 10A fuses in the unused positions as well.
One fuse supplies the inside and exterior LED lights, the other (marked water pump) supplies the stove ignition,
and now the fridge fan I installed on the top vent.

Total cost would have been less than $18, but I am tight as a ("whatever") and I bought 30 assorted fuses on ebay
for $1.58.

I used the savings to buy 10m of drinking quality hose today.
It's $45 on a $60K van.

I used the savings to buy 10m of drinking quality hose today. Haven't had to fill the water tank yet.

I am still only dreaming of a $60k van!

We just bought a $22k Penguin, so in one way of looking at it, I should have another $38k for optioning it up :)

Mike

until you need them, and you have forgotten that great spot..............

Yep!!! either that or they are rattling around in the glove box getting beat up, I will say though, if I have an issue I'm trying to sort and have to keep replacing a fuse until I find the short I would rather a circuit breaker.

I can see why my wife walked back inside tonighto_O she said "every time your out here you are dreaming of spending money" :boink: I think this is me being thorough in what we need! Which is everything:)

Cheers Max.

Hi,
in my younger days, I would have soldered a small 12V dash light across a blown fuse on a long lead and put it in the suspect fuse position. Small enough current draw to not damage anything, but bright enough to see if it is on or off from anywhere.

Didn't have new-fangled circuit breakers in those days. I remember those days in Queensland when if you wanted to drink a
cold beer other than XXXX you had to go to interstate. Buying drinks in a pub was so simple and so quick. sigh.....

Hahaha, sounds like a little before my time @mikerezny, but rest assured I grew up when the tv remote was "Max change the channel" , only rich people had air con in their car and the only place that had more than one tv was a tv shop. Don't regret it one little bit either. 8-)
