Review:
The venue of our first official family holiday, we were lucky to share it a bunch of other forumites in a weekend hosted by @17triton.
The CP is a perfect low key getaway that is accessible easily from most directions and not really too far from anything in the West. It's not one of these big shiny Big 4 or chain CP's, so don't expect holiday programs, jumping pillows and brand spanking new facilities. What you can expect though is a beautiful quiet setting, where you feel safe and welcome.
Hank at the front desk is a ripper at the front desk and couldn't be more hospitable. The ensuite sites are reasonably sized and even a noob like me could put our 17ftr on there easily enough. They are also reasonably flat and didn't required any kind of levelling ramps or similar. The ensuites themselves are clean, robust and the one we had was possibly the sole reason the water in the lake was so low... Awesome pressure through a high flow head!
As for things to do, there is the lake to fish in (if you don't want to catch anything), and a great walking track that circumnavigates it right next to the lake. You are a stroll into town with it's small country town style shops and great local playground. The bakery is top draw. We also took an expedition up into Mt Cole to do some 4x4ing. Ultimately though you'll need to entertain yourselves, and we did that pretty easily with some bikes, footies, beers and the fires which you are allowed to have (most times of the year).
In summary, I reckon this is a ripper, and the kind of park I'm always on the look out for. Given it's under 2 hours from our house I don't think the next 12 months will see us without a repeat visit.
