Hi all
We have a Starcraft outback 22.68-1 and it has the thetford n3185 fridge in it. The van is 5 months old and as yet we haven't needed to use the fridge on gas but would like to. Can anyone tell us please how the fridge goes on gas ( how cold etc) after it has been running on 12v through the car battery whilst driving all day.

Cheers

@Whittley we don't have the same fridge but most 3 way fridges run better on gas than 12 or 240V.
To give an example we normally have our switch on 4 to maintain 1 to 2 deg's on 240V but have to back it down to 2 or 3 when on gas to prevent food from freezing dependent on ambient temps.
12V will usually just maintain the temperature whilst driving after it's cooled on 240 or gas.

I'm pretty sure that is the fridge we have in our basestation. We don't have power in the shed that we keep it in so before we head off I run the fridge on gas overnight just to cool things down and have found it gets down to around -2 in the fridge part. (I leave it set on high) I haven't payed a lot of attention to it while it is running on 12v but with a full fridge everything is still cold when setting up at the end of the day.

I leave ours on auto and if stopping for an hour or more I will turn the gas on to give it a run (Try and park levelish) as my 12v isolates itself once the car stops running. With the fridge on auto you don't have to get in to change settings as it will swap around from 12v to gas to 240 depending on what is available but it is still nice to hop in and check;).
