Day 3 at the Fang Farrier and while I have an aversion to the occupation I must say the fella at Cooloola Cove Clinic would have to be the most painless one I have ever come across, in fact no pain at all..............I have a few more visits over the next month it seems so I hope it continues a painless experience...........so Big Mal won't be getting any big runs for a couple of months, gives me plenty of time to decide, an extra battery, a diesel heater or new tyres, I know what I want but looks like the tyres will win out they have hit their 6 yr time line, a blow out plus a new rim would really upset me...4 tyres 265 75 x 16's LT 10ply.

Exactly @Bushman and you could have the mudflaps and window sticker and not be a dork like those who put them on Toyota's etc.

Now that is the 60 million $$$ question @Bluey , I have found that only start the jobs when you have that motivation, incentive when it just feels right to do will mean the job gets done well, in good time and doesn't end up getting pushed to the end of the bench at the end of the day and forgotten.............that is unless it's one of those emergency mongrel jobs that have to be done NOW ie: grey water sump pump craps out at 6pm on a drizzly day, cannot be put off as it's near full and backing up thru the floor drains.........I am so glad that will never ever happen again now....

Moving along, reading one of the glossy caravan mags yesterday and they had articles (adds) on various vans for the everyday person and I found it interesting that if you assume the tare weight is like normal, doesn't include liquids then some of them only have about 100kgs left for food etc, once you fill gas bottles and water tanks............and thats assuming the tare weight includes the solar panels etc...............would have thought with all the hullabaloo about scales someone might have clicked .

Overcast on the Cooloola Coast but still shorts and T shirt, while rain down Brissie.

Currently at Mungally Station near Ingham.

An interesting place as it's owned by the aboriginal council, run as a full cattle station with cane and a bit of tourism. We're the lone campers and have watched cattle being worked this morning, then a multiple of other station jobs.

Camping is unpowered, must be self contained but it's beautifully peaceful and loads of space.

Add to that there's Hinchinbrook just 3 kms down the road with great beaches.

Hey you Victorian lot! It's fine, a cool 22 degrees with a light breeze.....so not too bad.

I will add that the council free camps we've come across so far are full of Victorians, and most are totally overstaying the 20 hour limit....some we came across yesterday had been in the one spot for over three weeks.....

The caravan parks are also full of Victorians and south Australians who stay for three to five months.

There can't be many left in the south as the mass migration is definately on.

@Bluey , @bigcol , @dagree , @Dobbie @Crusty181, @DRW and the other disbelievers that i can catch fish.......

Went for a little paddle this morning, threw out 2 lines one for bream one for a Flatty, without any great expectations and bugger me both lines went off, a very nice flatty and a small bream........for the technical minded a rod was used, with chicken for bait, a 25 yr old reel and green fishing line.......If I'm going to catch any more this size i will have to use the tandem Yak, the single doesn't leave much room.

62cm so big enough.

Wow!

A beauty. You're back to officially claiming fisherman status.....you even have a proper glove.

(We're in Cooktown and the fresh fish here is so good I can't even be bothered to try for myself....too busy exploring anyway. I'm going to specialise in redclaw ....I hope...in the next few weeks)
