If you went for your longest holiday ever (15 nights) and never once put out the back end of your 17.56-2 OB, would you sell it for something different?

While we were in Victoria, we again looked at a 20.62-3 but the thought of being without a van for ages isn't appealing and ours still isn't a year old yet. Our kids are 8 and 2 and there will be no more.

Hi Andrea
We have the 18.57-9 with bunks for our two kids. We use the end bed for storage of the kids toys they like to bring, sometimes they use it as their cubby, and occasionally one of them brings a friend along. We like the option of using it or not,
Cheers Kim

Kim, I think as they grow up the 17.56-2 will give us more options too. We were travelling this trip so we were barely at the caravan parks. We still have cupboard spaces left so storage isn't an issue for us. The appeal of the 20.62-3 is the no bed ends.... saying that, our new weatherproof bed ends covers we had made are fantastic. We survived the Melbourne weather with the rooftop (dometic) heater on low overnight (temp dropped to around 3-4 degrees) and the kids didn't even have the covers on. No rain or moisture either. Realistically set up time would only change by about 5 -10 minutes.

Hi Andrea, tough call I guess, but if your considering something else what about the 18-57-6. Only front bed to make, bunks for the kids, shorter than a 20' but still plenty of room and heaps of storage (not to mention under bunk). My girls are 8 & 10 and find the layout great with not much setup time.

Only drawback is no beds for the kids friends but we decided to buy what suited us as a family. Usually we are with friends when we go away and they have their sleep overs anyway....just food for thought!

Cheers.

I would :)

On our third van know as most people know and would not have it any other way as you don't really loose much when you sell and you can't take it with you.

But you can enjoy it while you are around :)!!!

have to agree with that, we too are on our 3rd van the first 2 being campers and turned over in 2 years, our Panda is now two years old  Haven't ruled out a 4th, but dont think that will happen any time soon.

My wife and I have agreed that we have one more van in us. The next one however is when kids are grown up and they would not have a bar of sleeping in the same van as us. So probably a 15 year plan.
Our kids are 2, 10, 12 and 14. When we change over it will be a van with the bed inside.

But for now Andrea, what have you got to worry about? You could ponder this question for another year and at the end of that year if you decided to sell you would still be in a position where you would virtually get your money back on the van.

You can make a big van smaller but you can't make a small van bigger, it's just smaller. That's the beauty of the Expanda, small footprint for towing and as big as you want.

Its funny when away you start thinking is this the right Expanda/Van for us?

I think we all have these thoughts from time to time, good luck with your decision.

Sometimes there's just the two of us and we still like the option of the rear bed set-up. The space can be used for storage of bulky items to keep cabin tidy, and we just love the feeling of space. It does provide great flow-through ventilation as well in warm weather. Set up is not an issue. It's always there if our adult daughter wants to take a break with us. And hopefully our granddaughters will enjoy it as we'll. it's also handy if you have visitors with little ones who still need a nap.

It depends on what your plans were with how long you wanted to keep it. Our 12 year old girl has grabbed one end of our van for herself, what i am getting at is the kids grow up quick. But if you do decide to sell it, you wont have any problems. After a trip in our van and after going to the last caravan show, I decided the 17-56-2 OB would suit us better next time. We have a car that can tow one now, we now would like a toilet and a bit more space and the layout is similar to our 16-49-4. Circumstances and opinions change.

We had decided to keep the expanda but after being away and not using the back end, we did question if it was worth looking at the starcraft again. Looks like the panda is staying though as a couple of kayaks have just been purchased instead.
