Hi all,
We are booked in for 4 nights at Wilpena Pound Resort in a couple of weeks time, and interested in hearing from others who have been there. What are the must see sights or must do activities in that area? We have 3 girls, aged 13, 11 and 9.

A walk into the pound is great, if you are fit, a full day walk up to St Mary's peak offers great views. If you like 4wding, there is plenty to do around the area, Skytrek at Willow Springs and also at Rawnsley Park.

We did a joy flight over the pound and adjacent ranges. Worth every dollar and it cost a few!! Have to get in early as they book out quick this time of year.
The two roos punching on outside the bar had more people watching than the afl final that was on the TV!!
Restaurant was a good feed. Fuel was cheaper back at the other camp site.

Stayed there a few months ago on the round Oz trip. Would suggest allow a day and do the Brachina Gorge, Parachilna, Blinman round trip. Plenty to see and some varied but not too difficult driving conditions. You can have either and early lunch at Parachilna or a late one at Blinman.

We have stayed in Wilpena Pound Resort and enjoyed the experience. Good amenitties, even had boxing kangaroos just outside the amentities block. Plenty of good drives, the walk to the pound wasn't to stressful as the wife made it to the top. I would go back for another stay

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think we will call into Arkaroo Rock on the way in.has anyone been there? Sounds like it is an achievable walk (we have 3 girls, 13, 11 & 9) to see the artwork. May then do the Brachina Gorge - Parachilna - Blinman trip. How long/hard is the walk into the pound.....wondering if the girls are up to it. Will the flies be bad there this time of year?

There is a reasonably short walk into the pound that's about 3km and pretty flat. It takes you to the old homestead. Then there is a further walk from that up to the top of the ridge which gets a great view. 1st lookout is reasonably easy and the second higher one a bit harder. One woman was lugging her 2yo up on her shoulders. return trip is all down hill.

Thanks for the info @Griffo...... does anyone know where the best spot close by to the resort is where we are a good chance of seeing the yellow footed wallabies?
