I noticed yesterday on the circuit board for these new interior white & blue LED light fittings there were a bunch of legs poking through the board that have not been soldered. It's the same on all of my interior lights and they all work properly.

Has anyone else noticed this or investigated further?

Trying to picture it but alas can't!

And stuck at work so can't go and check mine.

Do you have a picture?

There are a number of possibilities but a photo would help. Some connectors are designed to be pressfit, that is there is a spring tension built into the connector lead to make contact rather than soldering. Another technique used in manufacturing is to apply a solder paste to the component side of the board (same as the technique used for surface mount components). This is unlikely to show any visible signs of solder on the bottom of the board.

Nahh, it's not one of those alternative model type things, I'll see if I can get a pic

Wow that is nasty. My guess is that the board is double sided (copper on both sides) and what you are seeing is hand soldered wire links joining the top copper layer to the bottom copper layer. The pins that you see unsoldered on this side of the board are probably soldered on the other side of the board.
It's obviously made somewhere that you don't have to pay for labour as it is all hand assembly.
