Hey Rosceo how about a mix?

I haven't got one yet but when I do I will be getting one of these -

http://www.australiawideannexes.com.au/

Its canvas on the top and the bottom is vinyl to keep it easy to clean.

Feels a bit lighter than the normal run of the mill vinyl ones, is easier to pack down and easy to keep clean.

I like the fact with Australia Wide the person will also come to my house to measure + install so it makes it an easy process.

Which manufacturers have you checked out so far?

cutting it very close to Xmas - 19th! Buying from Prestige in Geelong. They have offered a yard van if ours is delayed. can't complain about that, but would still prefer ours.

looked at a few, but would prefer melbourne. Any issues might be hard getting up to Coff's etc:) . Alpine is the front runner, they'll come on site too.

did end up find some links here ( operator error ) still no closer to decision 4 Librans in my house we can never make a decision.

Hi Roscoe,

we went Australia Wide Annexes, they came to the house to measure up, annex was made within 2 weeks and fitted at home. The installer told us he often does jobs for people on site at caravan parks as well. Couldn't fault the annex, as expanda said half vinyl half canvas, we got clear inserts to the windows with ours and they even through in curtains, wife is more than happy which is the main thing.:)

Learning from one who made a mistake. When we bought our trusty Swift we got the genuine dinky die Jayco annexe. After all it was a Jayco wasn't it. I couldnt work out why the saleman kept looking at me like I was kinda weird.
So we picked up our trusty Swift with our genuine Jayco annexe. Then we went walkabout, as you do, coz you gotta new toy.
First trip? Melbourne to Adelaide with one week in Adelaide. Decided to put up our genuine Jayco annexe. Then we found out why that nice salesman had been looking at me like I was kinda weird. That trip is the only time that annexe has seen the light of day. I spend 2 hours fighten with that genuine Jayco annexe complete with its fancy zip up walls. Never again.
Go looking. There will be better out there.

It can sometimes be a State thing. Each State seems to have their own good companies. We are in Victoria and settled on Tebbs but we could have easily gone with others, also supporting the local business who have been there forever. I think Alpine was our second choice. I went with canvas, because it breathes a little better in my opinion. They are all good and there are a heap of options. In the end, I went down the simple path with a porch as we will be using it only on the long trips which will be once a year. Knowing us we will upgrade next year so someone will get a van with an annexe that has been used once:) so I could not see the point buying one with all the bells and whistles.
