These school holidays have been a eye (ear) opener. Having three young boys and they hit the fart sack at 7:00 -830pm I'm amazed of other campers getting to there destination in the dark, (and trying to set up) have they have had delays on their trip, or if they are poorly planned. I most admit the last couple of nights it is entertaining to some degree listening to the domestics

I love a domestic too, but understand some people have to travel long distances to get to their destinations. Sometimes doing the trip in one day is the only option given many of the mercinary caravan parks have minimum 2 or 3 night stays in peak times. Makes an overnight stops along the way difficult.

Silver Gypsies like us usually try and get in by 3.00pm/3.30pm whether CP or FreeC. Suits us and respects others.
Nothing nicer than a quiet wine or a beer before thinking about dinner. Understand however that others don't have that luxury. Be nice if they put a few mods in such as under van LED's so their set up could be easier.

I usually like to get in early, although we have set up in dark. Expanda's are easy to set up and it doesnt really take that much time. re the domestics, one of the hardest issues is keeping the kids at bay whilst setting up from wanting to get in and out of the van!!!!!

Ah takes me back to when we had our old camper trailer, took over an hour to setup and it was a definate 2 person job with a ladder! ..it was guaranteed to have my blood pressure boiling within 15 mins and the other half not talking to me for the next couple of days, oh and watch out to any passerby who happened to comment that it was "taking a while" and " had we just got the trailer?" :argue:.

Now we don't care when we get there as it only takes 10mins

ah the serenity ;)

I always stop 20 or 30 km out. Toilet something to eat, smoke if youve got em. Let the kids run around a bit, makes a more relaxed set up. If you have given up the smokes, dont tell yr other half to go have one and calm down, it never ends well.
